By the end of their studies in Environmental Sciences, Marie-Soleil L'Allier, Martine Gariépy, Sophie Maccario and Andréanne Laurin felt the urgent need to take action for things to change. But not in 2050 — immediately! That's when they decided to open a zero-waste and eco-friendly grocery store.
"Food is a basic need. If we can change the food system a little bit and offer concrete solutions, we can hope to do our part for the environment," says Martine. After more than a year of work, the four committed environmentalists opened Épicerie LOCO in the summer of 2016 on Jarry Street East in Montreal.
