Throughout his 15-year career in fashion and interior design, Daniel Anaka had a hard time finding original and modern furniture in Montreal at a good price. He made the decision to try his hand at filling that gap by opening his own showroom, featuring designer pieces from around the world that just about anyone could afford. When both designers and the public raved about the place, he set out in search of a new locale and expanded his showroom into a full-on retail boutique.
He settled on Griffintown since the area’s condo boom had been drawing ever-larger crowds of young design-conscious professionals. In September of 2014, Espace Moderne was born to connect home and condo owners with beautiful and modern decor, furniture and lighting at prices that made sense for value-conscious buyers unwilling to cut corners when it comes to style.
