Moore Well Drilling's main focus is domestic wells however the company also does municipal, industrial and irrigation drilling. John “Hap” Moore worked for several years with a plumbing company and during his employment watched with interest, several wells being drilled by a company from Nova Scotia. He decided then, to go into business for himself.
He envisioned how improvements could be made in the drilling process, and, being an accomplished mechanist, built his own drill rig and started his company in 1945.
At first, he worked on his own, and when his sons Dale and Harold were old enough, they worked with him and his company, John Moore and Sons was created. During his life he made four drill rigs that were, in many ways, better than the factory-made rigs of the day. When the business was begun, cable tool rigs were commonly used.
