Avoid! We arrived at 8.30 pm, were told at 9.15 that the restaurant had to close at 9 pm (not according to their sign on the door) after we noticed the 2 servers sitting next to us and staring at us eating!! The lady who was there told me : I do not know why my colleague let you in. If it was me, I would have told you it is too late. The food was not good either and the Korean barbecue. Well.. Only one setting for the burner (too high).
I am a huge fan of Asian food, but unfortunately had nowhere to go for good Korean food since moving to Ottawa, until I found Koreana that is. Koreana is a low key gem tucked away on Somerset. The staff is always super friendly and service is very quick. Tea along with complimentary appetizers are brought within a couple minutes. On to the food. I absolutely love the bulgogi which is at least as good if not better than most of the competition in in Toronto. It's always sizzling hot and if you don't put a napkin on your lap you are bound to have some crackling oil drops land there. The meat is very well marinated and tender, and the portions are very big. The various stews are likewise very good, my favorite is the pork stew. They also service sushi but I have never had to chance to try it. The bulgogi is just too hard to pass up. As with most Korean restaurants, your order is accompanied by complimentary side dishes like kimchi and seaweed. All are very good except the occasional broccoli salad which I'm not a fan of. Koreana has now become one of my monthly haunts. Highly recommended.

For something other than a traditional North American barbecue experience, check out Koreana Restaurant, which offers Korean-style barbecue. Rather than wait for the food to arrive cooked, the meat is seasoned, marinated and prepared for you to barbecue at your table. This particular Korean barbecue house has a cozy atmosphere great for chatting while everyone barbecues around the communal heat.
