Reminds me of Hong Kong

I go there very often with my family. We all love the food. Obviously, Chinese food in Ottawa pales in comparison to what Hong Kong offers but Cafe Orient's food is the best I can find that reminds me of home. The pricing is pretty decent considering one main dish can be shared among 2 people along with a small appetizer.

Good HK style food...but needs better pricing.

Cafe Orient is a nice place to eat Hong Kong style food. It even has the style of a HK-style restaurant. I went there a few times and I must say that their baked rice is really good! I tried eating there for dinner by ordering various dishes and their dishes have a distinct taste of southern Chinese cuisine (preferably Guangdong and Hong Kong). It's a great place to have a group of people together and share food. Although the price is quite expensive, it is a nice place to visit if you are craving Hong Kong style food.

Menu Overload

Typical of many Chinese restaurants is having a menu listing the size of a phone book. Hard to tell what your specialty is if you virtually have the same dish prepared twelve different ways. And for a fast-food, Hong Kong-style restaurant, this place could offer better pricing. I really don't understand why Asian food overall is so much more expensive here than in Toronto. I could get a bowl of noodle soup in the GTA for half of what it costs here. But, I digress. Cafe Orient has fairly decent congee and noodle dishes - which I submit are their specialties.
