The decoration of this place is really nice I will give them that, service wasn't bad either. The food however, was horrible. We went there for my mom's birthday dinner and ordered a shoyu ramen, fried pork donburi, small sushi/sashimi tray, and a tacoyaki. The tacoyaki came first it was ice cold in the center I had to spit it back out. I asked the server to replace the dish and we all thought she would give us a new dish or add the tacoyaki back, and she ended up giving us the same dish with less amount of tacoyaki AND the dish wasn't even hot. The donburi came with all the rice stuck together like playdoh and breaks in chunks when we tried to separate it. The price for this quality of food is very unreasonable.
I come to this place because it is close proximity to where I live. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. There are booths set up like Japanese-styled rooms, jazz music is played in the background (okay not authentic, but meh), the chopsticks are placed in either bamboo boxes or in mini-kimonos. The food, well, it really depends on what your order. I give top marks to the rolls they have, and I especially recommend the Toronto and Monster rolls, those two are unique in their own ways. I didn't like their sushi and sashimis, found their fish rather not fresh. The ramen and udons are excellent. Tempura is a no-go. Service-wise is quite wishy washy due to a lack of staff, especially if you're sitting by the booths. The ring for service technique is ineffective; even I can't tell how the mechanism will notify waitresses that you need assistance. They are very friendly though. Will I visit again? Yes, of course. Just know what you're ordering. Hey, if you visit often, the chefs sometimes give something new for you to try!
The rolls that i have tried from there were always really good and the teriyaki wasnt too bad either. the service is terrible. first the woman doesnt even respond to take orders even when you ring the bell. so finally after waiting for soup and salad our sushi comes and theres also an extra plate of salad rolls. We all figured that she was giving it to us for free because she had taken so long bringing us food. Then when we go to pay for it, she had put the rolls on the bill. After arguing with her about it since we had not ordered it and were refusing to pay for it, she snapped and told us to "Get OUT!". If those salad rolls weren't so good and the environment not so unique, i wouldn't go there again.
This place is amazing! From teh second you enter to the second you leave the service is top notch. Keep in mind that Sushi is not just food.. it is art. And the Sushi "artist" at Saido is impecable. This may require some extra time to prepare.. but it is worth it! The decore is simply stunning, with all of the seating in "privacy booths" behind curtains.. and a small "bar seating" area. The restaurant is impecably clean. The fish is fresh and cool. The rice is the perfect consistancy and the presentation is tops! The staff is friendly and courteous. They also have a korean menu with all the staples.. The bulgogi is amazing. The tempura is not oily and the food is always the perfect temperture.
Fabulous food, great friendly service, wonderful ambience along with Japaneses music playing in the background. Well priced and a well varied menu. Excellent.
