We had read the good and not so good reviews before we decided to dine here. We are from St. Catharines and had driven past the restaurant many times on our various drives to Burlington.
We were surprised that we had to pay $5.00 parking, but were pleasedwhen we were told it would be deducted from our bill.
When I first walked out to the patio, I was happy to feel the ambience of being in a lovely setting. Our server, Angela, was pleasant, attentive and very friendly (thank you Angela). The food was excellent (well, the french fries could have been a bit warmer, but were tasty).
We were offered blankets when the sun went down, and it was altogether a very pleasant experience that we will enjoy again.
Anyone who complains about this restaurant does not know how to truly appreciate and ejoy life. Sure you may wait a little while for a table and you may even wait a little while to receive your food, but it is all worth the wait. It is a very big and busy place and I am certain you are not the only customer in the place. Sit back and relax and just take in the view. Price are reasonable considering the location. There are restaurants with worse locations and much more expensive food that is not nearly as good as Barangas. Want cheap food and fast, go to some chain restaurant that has everything preperpared and sent on truck from there head office. Want a beautiful restaurant on the lake where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the freshly prepared food and service, go to Barangas.
We made reservations but could not make a reservation for the patio. The restaurant should take the reservation but mention to customer that, because of the popularity of the patio, they would not be able to hold the table past the appointed time. We were patiently waiting to be seated at the last available table outside and 2 different parties came from another entrance and sat down. Fortunately the waitress told them we were waiting while she cleared off the table. Handled very well by the waitress. Our server was absolutely amazing. She was very friendly and very efficient. It was very busy but I noticed that all the wait staff were cheerful and happy to help in any way they could. Lovely atmosphere.
