Spoiled family celebration. Dreadful service, cold food and such poor lighting we could not read the menu.
The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. Pasta dishes were tasty even though they were vegetarian, my grilled salmon was cooked to perfection and the sirloin steak was yummy. The place was very clean, will be back soon....
This was my second visit to a Milestones restaurant. Previously, I dined at the Hespler Road location in Cambridge, this time, Milestones Stone Road in Guelph. My meal several months ago at Milestones in Cambridge was fantastic. Without going into what I ordered I can say briefly they make a great pasta, and the food was delicious. The second time around, this time in Guelph, nothing had changed. We really enjoyed our meal. I love the design of the restaurant. Very dark, lots of black, but not like you are in a cave. The restaurant was busy, but we still felt privacy surrounded by the dark colors. Our waitress was fine. Friendly and attentive. For our starter we ordered the trio of Kobe Beef Sliders topped with Fried Onions. I've never tried the famous Kobe Beef, and who knows if what I was served was actually that, but the Sliders were great. Soft and juicy with a little crunch with the Fried Onion strings. Served with a small side of Honey Mustard dipping sauce. The sauce was fine, but I would of enjoyed a tomato based sauce instead. My guest wanted a hamburger, even after the sliders. So she ordered the Milestones Burger with Curly Fries. I have had a lot of bad experiences in restaurants in Ontario with the burger. For some reason, something so delicious and simple like a burger, is so often screwed up. I can't count how many times I've been served dried up meat, served on a jaw breaking bun. Milestones did the hamburger just fine. My guest loved the hamburger. It was juicy, fresh, lots of toppings and served on a soft bun. She claimed it was just what she was hoping for. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Fettuccine. Previously at Milestones in Cambridge I tried another pasta dish on their menu, and loved it. So I wanted to try another pasta selection they were offerering. The pasta was fantastic. Cooked perfectly. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The pesto sauce was fine. This makes two pasta dishes I've had at their restaurants that I loved. I have to try the Ravioli next visit. Milestones does a wonderful pasta. Milestones is great. Nothing more I can say.
the greatest service, the greatest food, the greatest atmosphere. I shall return. I went to the one in Waterloo, but I couldnt find a review for that one, ah well
Birthday dinner on a busy Friday night. Service was prompt, food was excellent. My husband said the prime rib was the best he has ever had. Steaks were tender and veggies hot. Birthday girl got a scoop of ice cream, surrounded by chocolate wafers and a sparkler. They don't do the whole singing and embarrasment of some restaurants. We split the mini desserts which come in five different glasses with five spoons for sharing. All in all a good meal and I would go back. A little noisy, but I think it's the high ceilings of the place.
I dont mind milestones, I just think there are many more restaurants in Guelph that are better value than this one. For my personal tastes I find the menu very limited, and so I always end up ordering a burger. Both times I have been, one with a group of four, one with a group of 8, it has taken over an hour to get food. The service is not good at this place, yet it is always very very busy. It is also very very cold, I found myself eating dinner with my coat on because it was so cold. The burger itself was good, I have no complaints about the food, but it was just average. I would say the Woolwich arrow hands down beats the taste of the burger. It gets very busy around 7:30pm, so go early if you want dinner. The only saving grace, which makes me actually love milestones a little, is their Monday night girls night. I found it be excellent value for money, and really enjoyed the food. Once again we had a problem with service on that night, and ended up getting our Bellini cocktails in regular glasses, which is not a big deal, but was dissapointing to us, as we saw the table next to us get nice glasses. I also find the show more attention to older customers, than a group of students, which I have witnessed every time I am there. While i don't love it, I don't hate it, I just find it very middle of the road. I also wanted to add, that in my first visit my friend ordered the Ceasar Salad as her main dish, and what came out was disgraceful. It was a bowl of lettuce, with no dressing 1 crouton, very bland tasteless and not what I would expect, she never complained and still payed for it, but now whenever we go back (which is usually because we are going to someones birthday etc, not by choice) we have to advise everyone not to order that item.
Service was good and food nicely presented at this lunch time birthday gathering for 12. A fabulous frozen peach bellini was the perfect way to start. The seafood risotto sounded wonderful but arrived looking more like a sticky mess than a creamy delight. Still, I will return and give them a second chance. Birthday folk got a scoop of delicious vanilla gelato complete with sparkler and chocolate cookies. Coffee was delicious, too.
We showed up at Milestones on a Wednesday during their date night promotion - what a great idea! We had a great time and the food was really fantastic. It was odd though that they list a caesar salad as a sharable appetizer, but when we asked if it came with 2 plates, the waitress said she would make a special request to have it served that way. She delivered, and the salad was fabulous. The entrees were also fantastic and my partner admitted it was the best steak he had in a long time. The desert was one of the best apple crumbles we have ever had as well. The servers were very pleasant, however I did feel as though the service was slightly slower than I would have preferred. Overall it was a great time with great food and we will return.
This was our first time at Milestone; we were totally amazed with our server Rachel, food was cooked to perfection (compliment to chef), impeccable service and great ambiance. We will definitely be back with more friends…
Baked goat cheese and slow roasted flatbread plate is fantastic. Could use more goat cheese. The little mound they give you is not enough for 2 people. Substituted mushroom risotto for the garlic mashed potatoes on the Grilled sirloin with Roasted Mushrooms and Gorgonzola Marsala dish. The mushroom risotto was so stodgy it was practically a solid. The rice was overcooked to the point of being mush. Not only the texture was subpar but it didn't taste very good either. The vegetable was raw. I like crisp veggies but it can be taken too far. It was briefly steamed, and utterly tasteless. My steak was good. Plate presentation was unappealing. My first visit to Milestone Guelph just before Christmas 2010 was fabulous - service, food, everything. I was thrilled and raved to everyone I knew about it. I've been back twice and both times the service was indifferent, and the food sub par. This is not the first class restaurant I'd hoped had come to Guelph.
I'd been wanting to try this new Milestones for awhile (mostly for the Scene points, I admit) and it was a great first experience. We ordered 2 appetizers to share around the table and they came quickly and were delicious! I highly recommend the flatbread plate. Appetizers were definitely overpriced, but worth it anyway. I had the California Spring Salad and the rest of my friends had the Top Sirloin with asparagus and mashed potatoes. They all gave rave reviews, except that (like other reviewers) most were more undercooked than they had ordered (i.e. ordered medium well, came out medium rare). For dessert we split the Butterscotch Pot de Creme and the Break-Up Tub, both of which were delicious. I'm a little surprised at the bad reviews given for this new Milestones, we had a great time and it's come highly recommended to us through other friends who have visited with positive experiences.
Whoa there!! I've been there twice and both times the food was well above average. The phyllo shrimp appetizer was superb and the entree's were served at the correct temperature, and with the requested degree of cooking. In particular, the mediterranen chicken was "melt in your mouth". The vegetables, including the brocollini (not brocolli) were not overcooked and the service was very good. This is a new restaurant, and there are probably some things that are still being tweaked, but they've come a long way in a short time. Compared with the other restaurants on Stone Road, this one stands above the rest, and many of the downtown eateries will feel the impact. This place is virtually standing room only by 7:00 p.m. 7 days a week, and Guelph isn't so big that there's not a significant number of repeat customers. They can't all be wrong or as dissatisfied with their entire expereince as most of the previous reviewers have suggested they should be.
My husband convinced me to give Milestone's a try and after much reluctance on my part we gave it a try. One word: Disappointed. I ordered a steak at medium and it came out rare. My husbands meat loaf was okay. The broccoli is very unappetizing. I think a new side vegetable is needed. The second time we went I decided I was too harsh the first time. But again: Disappointed. My prime rib came out barely warm. My mashed potatoes were cold and my husbands steak was very undercooked. My advice: save your money. Go to the Keg and get far better service and better food.
When I first walked in I thought "ok, this is nice" but when you sit down and get a good look it actually kind of looks like your in a dungeon. The smell of the restaurant didn't smell quite right either. The server was pleasant and it took a really LONG time for our food. The general manager even came over to see how we were doing but honestly she came across so rude and unfriendly. After that, we had had it. The food when it finally came out was overdone, my steak BIG TIME was! Very disappointing.
