We had made reservations for 7:30pm but waited 20min for our table at an uncomfortable seat at the bar where the staff pushed drinks on us, I had to tell the hostess three times I was waiting for dinner to order wine. When we got to our table it hadn't been set properly and we had to ask the waitress for napkins and water. The menue was riped and soiled and they had run out of the special, our meals took 1 hour and 30 mins to arrive. Other people who were seated after us had finished their meals befor we were served ours. The meals were heavey and greasy, the pork tenderloin appeared to be deep fried and was nothing like it had been described in the menue. Overall we were very disapointed with our experience.
The decor was fine but rather pretentious and superficial. The greeting was cheerful and the seating was fine. It is a small restaurant and one can expect to be a bit crowded. We were at a table and a booth would have been more private. There were many who seemed to be regulars and this is usually a good sign. Perhaps they have never gone to a really good restaurant.
The menu was nicely designed but it was soiled and falling apart. Perhaps the owner wanted us to know that it had been well used. It would be so easy to fix this important detail.
Service was prompt and drinks were delivered quickly. I got the sense that, when we didn't order alcohol, we were no longer a priority.
The hot rolls were excellent and varied.
Entrees were delivered a bit slowly but within an acceptable time frame. The pork was a bit dry and the mango sauce somewhat overpowering. The lamb shank fell far below expectations. The menu claimed that it would fall off the bone so it was not surprising when a steak knife was not brought to the table. The meat was hard to get from the bone and was rather meagre in amount. I have had this dish elsewhere and have always had better results. The tomato sauce was fine. The vegetables held promise but turned out to be undercooked. One does not want mushy carrots but these were barely warm.
The biggest disappointment was that the waiter never checked to see how we were enjoying our meal. It's not a terrible restaurant but there are too many fine restaurants to warrant ever going back.

We sat out on their new patio. Just like sitting somewhere in France. Hats off to the owners and staff for creating such a beautiful space along Plains Road. Great food and great service.
