I love eating at this place...If you are heading to Burlington for any reason and you are looking for a fun place to eat Joe Dogs is the place!! It has a bar feeling but is also very family oriented!!
The restaurant was very loud and just as my friend and I were seated, a large, noisy group came in so my friend and I could not talk to each other. They got our order wrong not once, but twice and would not fix it the second time. While the Caesar Salad was tasty, the rest of the meal was far below what one would expect at the price they were paying. Perhaps it was just what my friend and I ordered that was the problem, but I was not impressed at all by the service or the atmosphere. My friend and I also both noticed that none of the waiters or waitresses wrote anything down. Perhaps if they did, they would not make so many mistakes.
To start off, I may be a little biased as pub food isn't exactly my favourite, but this was pretty bad. I went with a few people from work, so it was more for the social aspect than it was for the food itself anyway. I was looking for something quasi-healthy and decided to go with the Greek chicken wrap and veggie sticks as my side. The group of us ordered our meals at least 10 minutes before the guy at the table next to us, yet he got his dish well before we were served. His meal looked more complicated than ours as well, so you'd think his would take longer, but clearly this guy was a priority. It seemed like he was known as a regular, but I still found this quite rude. We're all paying for our meals just as well, strangers or not-- it should be first come first served. We weren't impressed. Anyways, my wrap was FAR from anything special. In fact, at one point I bit into a large piece of chicken that was very difficult to bite through because it was so dry and stuck in my teeth. I felt like some kind of cave man trying to tear off this meat with my teeth while trying not to make a flailing scene in front of my co-workers. To make things even worse, the next bite I took had a huge piece of cartilage in it. I couldn't chew it and was mortified to have to spit anything out--- but I was also too afraid to swallow it. So I spit it in my napkin as discreetly as I possibly could. HOPEFULLY NO ONE NOTICED! Not only that, but my pickle had wing sauce fingerprints all over it, which I imagine one of the cooks couldn't be bothered to wipe his hand off after making wings and carelessly tossed the pickle on my plate.. and my carrot had what looked like dirt along the one side of it. If I had not been with my work friends who seem to be somewhat fond of this joint, I would have complained for sure. I don't recommend coming here at all and will most likely not be returning. Sorry, Joe Dogs.
I went to Joe Dog's last Saturday and had their "Cowboy Steak" special. It was amazing!!!!!!!!! It was a huge hunk of meat, a salad to start and mashed potatoes all for around $15. The service was fast and friendly and the band that came on later that night was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. I will be going back every Satruday for this great deal!
