Stylish and opulence

Front door is odd, and you pass the kitchen on your left, dark and moody, but in a good way. I liked the decor, gloss warm wood tones, with lime & olive green velvets. The food followed suit. white china well weighted cutlery, It was quiet our service was amazing it was just us. We had been offered a wine not on the wine list and that was an amazing selection. The appetizer platter was a bit sparce for 25, and for a man with a hardy appetite I don't think the portions would have been ample. It would have been better to have another vegatable with the meal, as it was lacking in that department. Chocolate cake was amazing, then coffee, so-so. Great presentation, can't wait to go back! When it's busier.

I have never done this before. I have also...

I have never done this before. I have also never had such an expensive poor meal that I am still fuming about it days later. I just moved to Brampton and having met the owner Chris at the Saturday market decided to go for dinner. Chris tries to be nice but is sort of smarmy. (Maybe spelled wrong but you get the idea) The food is as well. Inexperience is abundant and to be blunt, the food sucks. Big time. I would be embarrassed if this were my place. Tough, over-cooked, poorly seasoned. Downtown décor meets Flintstones quality food with about as much finesse as they had on the TV show. I do have experience with fine dining having worked in Yorkville for many years and if this is an example of what Brampton has to offer I will ask for a transfer and blow out of town pretty quick. Now my mission is to check out all of Brampton's restaurants and see what is on offer in this town.

I have been to this restaurant several times in...

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past few months. The beef tenderloin is amazing and the rack of lamb is the best I have ever had. Simply put, the place is a treat from the atmosphere to the service and especially the food. They bend over backwards to please, one server in particular is the friendliest chattiest young lady I have ever met. Ask Jim about wine if you need assistance. Having read the other reviews I'm wondering if this is the same place I went to? I can't imagine any of the staff being rude, and I have been served by several of them. The odd thing was that the number of people changed from 2 to 4 in the other review they did. As for the comment about cheap dishes and cutlery that's really strange as I asked the owner about them. She told me about her travels with the restaurant designer and how they selected them. I could even tell they were very good and I'm just a man who wouldn't normally notice that. Overall this place is very classy, very friendly and a pleasant experience all around.

I was supposed to dine here and they lost me at the door. Rude Rude. Walked down the street and ate at another restaurant which was a surprise and delight. If they weren’t so rude here I would not have discovered this other great restaurant. So perhaps thanks is due?

This restaurant is a wonderful addition to downtown Brampton. It's lovely inside and the food presentation is excellent. It always tastes delicious. I've visited twice and not been disappointed either times. The live piano playing makes the evening even more enjoyable. The restaurant is sensitive to timing when you tell them you're attending a show at the Rose Theatre. The service is friendly and caring. I recommend this restaurant.

I am disappointed. I waited months for Nexus to open. First July, then August. Finally in September it opened. In October I go for dinner. After hovering and waiting for someone to notice us at the door we are finally crammed into a table near the bar. Beside the overly loud piano. Conversation was impossible. Not romantic, not cozy. We admire the restaurant. Very expensive and classy decor. Slick with a cold hard surface kind of ambiance. Nice for a wine bar, upscale bar. Not a celebratory "honey I just got a raise" kind of place. I am a bit surprised. I was under the impression this was to be a restaurant but there are not that many tables and the bar dominates. After reviewing the menu we realize the prices are higher than we usually see in Brampton. That is ok if they have the goods and can deliver. They didn't. Asparagus appetizer was good, but I make this at home for my friends. Once a caesar salad always a caeser salad. You can only dress it up so much and it went out with the 1990's. Seared scallops were a bit over done. Goats cheese, red pepepr mix seems an over melted glob inside the tenderloin. You can't disguise a poor cut of meat with roasted red pepper and goats cheese anyway. The lamb was nice but too sweet. The plates reminded me of a 50's diner. They did not match the decor. Why spend a ton on a reno and not follow through on the dishes, cutlery and glasses? Music was very good. Not completely on key and way to obtrusive but a nice touch. Service was slow but polite. Very friendly young lady almost made up for the poor food and noise. Yet cute doesn't compensate for the disappointment. Perhaps my expectations were too high.
