Amazing sunomono! Really tasty bento box. Teriyaki chicken, cali roll, dumplings, tempura, plus miso, plus a neat starter. Amazing value! Super friendly staff. Nice place. I will DEFINITELY be back for more.
Yamato Sushi is a very small Sushi restaurant @ Davie / Seymour St. The service is always very good. All guys working here are extremely friendly. All menu items are priced below $10 with 2 exceptions only. the food is always good. They will probably not win an award for outstanding cuisine, however, Sushi and Sashimi are always fresh. I am sure no one will be disappointed here.
I definitely will not return to Yamato. I was there because a girlfriend wanted to meet at a Sushi place and I know my wife would never come to this part of town or this kind of Asian food. The sushi rice was rock hard and tasteless. Miso soup was nothing to call home about. Overall the sushi was sub par and not worth eating. The owners are Asian so good srvice is 'forget it' despite what a prior reviewer has said.
Since Vancouver is covered with Japanese resaturants, it is getting more and more difficult to find the good once. Yamato Sushi will not blow you away with their food, however, their rolls are better than you will find them in many other places.
The rolls I mention below are really good and the Katsu is also worth tasting.
