Select Wine Merchants [Select] was founded in Vancouver in 1982 by Pierre L. Doise after he immigrated to Canada from France to service the emerging wine market of British Columbia. Focusing on the development of National Brands the company expanded its market coverage with the opening of operations in Alberta and Ontario as well as servicing of the Prairies and Atlantic provinces (1992).
