Fairview’s Paul’s Omelettery captures both the history and heart of one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods with its famous green awning, classic brunch dishes and friendly staff — not to mention its seasoned owner, Dino Arsens.
A born and bred Vancouverite, Dino grew up in the area and has restaurant management in his blood. From the age of 17, he worked at his family’s restaurant before becoming a co-owner of Steveston’s acclaimed Seafood House. Dino bought Paul’s in 2008 from its original owner, working to balance tradition and progress ever since. “We’ve been here for 15 years, and so have some of our customers,” he says.
Enjoy eggs every which way you can imagine at this Fairview eatery dedicated to all things oeuf. Situated on South Granville for over 15 years, this local breakfast joint serves up a good mix of dependable dishes to start off your morning: triple-decker breakfast sandwiches, eggs Benedict topped with a house cheese sauce, Texas-cut French toast, corned beef hash and many more. And of course, you’ll find a dozen different veggie and meaty omelette options (prepared with B.C. free-run eggs). Picky diners can order a personalized omelette with custom fillings such as Oktoberfest sausage or Pacific shrimp.
Paul’s is obviously all about the omelettes — bundles of love wrapped in perfectly fluffy eggs. Their must-try dish is the Blackstone Omelette filled with bacon, tomato and brie. And if omelettes aren’t your thing, there is a full menu that includes eggs Benedict, corned beef hash and a great breakfast quesadilla.
