Mount Pleasant Optometry Centre opened its doors at 104 East Broadway at the beginning of 1950, and for over 60 years the clinic has provided quality eye care for patients in the neighbourhood. That makes it the oldest optometry clinic in Vancouver based in the same location. Another of the clinic’s claims to fame is local legend Mr. Bob Butler, who has been at the clinic since day one, helping customers fit and find glasses.
Along the way, generations of families have put their trust in Mount Pleasant Optometry Centre. Sometimes grandparents and their grandkids attend appointments at the same time. The oldest patient is 105, and their youngest patients are less than a year old.
Today, close to 20 staff, including doctors, technicians and optometric assistants work at the optometry centre to provide quality eye exams and help patients make informed decisions on eyewear. According to current owner Dr. Kevin Mowbray, who’s been with the company since 1999, the secret to their longevity is the staff’s pride in providing quality service.
Some things never go out of style. This optometry centre has been in the same location since 1950 and doesn’t advertise, relying solely on word of mouth. Renowned for their cutting-edge services and therapies, Mount Pleasant also has premium sunglasses by leading brands, available with or without prescriptions.
