Welcome to Collingwood, one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods. This unique neighbourhood dates back to the late 1890's. Many of the early settlers in the area were farmers. Avalon Dairy, one of the oldest established dairy farms in the province, is still located here.In 1890 Collingwood had Vancouver's first streetcars. The fare was a nickel. The line connected Collingwood with New Westminster and Vancouver. Today Collingwood has a modern transit station at Joyce/Collingwood, and you can take Skytrain, bus or car to visit our neighbourhood.Today the 'Village' of Collingwood is a bustling and thriving multicultural community that has a small town feeling in the midst of the big City. Colourful lamppost banners run along a boulevard of trees and planted landscaping in the street median and sidewalks that bring an attractive uniformity to the storefronts. The sidewalks are pedestrian friendly and are regularly cleaned by the Collingwood Clean Team.more...See more text
