Feel-good food is different for everyone, but it's hard to dispute the nostalgic appeal of homemade apple pie – it's one of life's most cherished comfort foods. Lisa and Patrick Beecroft, owners of Gabi & Jules Handmade Pies and Baked Goodness, have that same warm and fuzzy feeling about their daughters Gabriela and Juliana, who are the inspiration for the brand and everything behind it.
The Port Moody bakery and cafe opened in July 2016 and is a spinoff of Lisa and Patrick's other successful business, Caffé Divano, which has locations in Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Burnaby.
"We started the Gabi & Jules brand a year before the bakery opened, looking to maximize the bakery space we had in Port Moody's Divano," Patrick explains. "Through a series of events, we started looking at pie, so we established this brand and it just took off to the point we outgrew the space, which necessitated in looking for a bigger bakery production facility."
