Bad Music Night' is ON TONIGHT! This dance is about showcasing music that people have and do like to swing dance to, but is definitely not vernacular jazz. So far my list is looking like: 'Candy Man' - Christina Aguilera ; Istanbul; Cecelia; Jump Jive n Wail; In The Mood (chicken version). And so much more! Did anyone say Bananaphone. An event that is happening in town this week.1 CommentWelcomeSugar Swing believes in having fun. Birkley Wisinewski wants you to dance. More than that, he wants you to have fun. Birkley started the Sugar Swing Dance Club in 2005. The club offers swing dance lessons to people of any age; no experience is required and you don't even have to bring a partner. There's Jitterbug swing for singles or people who don't mind rotating partners, or sweetheart swing if you're with the one you love. Either way, you'll be having fun learning these classic dances.
A 12-week course will have you dancing the Charleston, Jive or Lindy Hop. There are also classes for tap dancing, slow dancing and even electro swing. You can come for the social evenings to dance just for fun, too.
Remember the dances you used to have in the gymnasium of your school? Well, this is a swing-style, grown-up version of that (minus all the raging hormones and insecurities). Put on your dancing shoes for the weekly Friday Night Stomp – a non-alcoholic event. Dancers of all ages are welcome; beginners can come early for a $2 dance class.
If you want an excuse to break out your dancing shoes, check out Sugar Swing Dance Club with their weekly dances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For just $10 a dance, plus $2 for a lesson if you arrive early, you can dance the night away. Don’t worry if you have two left feet, or if you haven’t danced since Footloose came out – all ages and levels of experience are welcome.
Put on your best dancing shoes and head out for an old-fashioned swing dance at Sugar Swing Dance Club’s Friday Night Stomp! Designed for dancers of all ages and abilities, the weekly dance is $10 per person. If you want a beginner’s intro to swing dancing, pay an extra $2 for the lesson.
