Station 52 Pub & Eatery is known for its food ― and for good reason. Owner Jim Sagris has been a chef most of his life. After years of running his own restaurant in Calgary, Jim opened Station 52 Pub & Eatery with his stepson in the early 2000s. “That’s my job. I’m a chef," Jim says of his lifelong experience and how it's shaped his outlook. "I don’t want to work for someone else. I might as well do it on my own."
His stepson works the bar while Jim manages the business, using his experience and laid-back attitude to create a successful hangout in the Erin Woods neighbourhood. “When you get experience, when you have been in the industry for so long, it’s not hard to run a business,” Jim notes. “It is hard to find people, but that’s it. It’s not a multi-million-dollar business. It’s just a pub.”
