If you’re looking for Thai food by a chef trained in Bangkok kitchens, Smooth Curry Thai Cuisine is your stop. Sam Sanongphan earned his cooking chops from Banthai, a restaurant in the country’s capital, before going to the Suan Dusit International Culinary School. His wife Anna Yooyen is also a trained chef, and together they own Smooth Curry Thai Cuisine in Harvest Hills and Delicious Thai Restaurant in Kensington. Smooth Curry was so busy when it first opened in 2012 that the staff couldn’t keep up. Sam says changes were quickly made to accommodate customers and serve food in a timely fashion.
The concept behind the interior decor was to recreate heaven, says Sam, and make the food part of the offering. A stone fireplace at the heart of the restaurant is surrounded by Thai art, and paintings of lotus petals and depictions of Buddha and various goddesses welcome customers to the Thai food haven. “It seems to be like the food is served in heaven,” he says.
Another choice Harvest Hills Crossing eatery, Smooth Curry Thai Cuisine is operated by husband and wife Thai chefs Sam Sanongphan and Anna Yooyen.
