Meet the owner

When Brent Boeckx and Linda Nainaar decided that they wanted to expand their romantic union into a business relationship, they knew it would involve healthy food. Both had plenty of experience in Calgary’s restaurant scene – he as the owner and operator of the now defunct Mortal Coil restaurant and lounge, and she as a manager at many prominent local restaurants. But the two were tired of serving customers ultra-rich food accompanied by copious amounts of alcohol; they wanted to provide something a little gentler for their customers’ bodies.

When Brent was diagnosed with Celiac disease, he and Linda turned to the concept of delicious, additive-free, gluten-free food. After sampling gluten-free versions of his favourite meals, Brent proclaimed they all tasted like dog or cat food. And so, the concept of People Food – “We didn’t know anything about gluten-free,” Linda says. “We didn’t want to just make the same things that other people were making. We had to figure out what was going in other products that was making the food taste so bad. We were doing things by feel because gluten-free is completely different.”

    best food ever!!!

    Finally, a place that makes real food!!! It looks like nothing much on the outside or inside, but my God that is the best tasting food I have come across in a long time. I never knew anyone could make gluten free food taste like that. I wish I would have found you years ago!!! I do not know many places that make bread, cupcakes, muffins that are that great. As for the food, I had chicken enchilada's, risotto's, salads, and the best Curry I have ever had in my life. The curry is named after a hockey player (who I did not know) but it is easily the best Curry I have ever eaten. I wish every place could make food this tasty.
