The food is always excellent at this restaurant, and they were quite gracious in accommodating our very last minute reservation. The service was disorganized at first, but it got better as the meal proceeded. My only complaint would be on the drink side. Prices on the cocktail menu would be helpful, since there can be huge price swings for the same drink at different restaurants. Also, $55 for a $15 Niagara wine seems like an excessive mark up. We had the same bottle at a fine restaurant in Mississauga for $42. Read more

The place has been on Locke for years and every visit I have had only the best service. The staff are very accommodating and deal well with any request you may have. The Beasley House has a very warm and comfortable feeling as the dinning area only seats around 30 people. The menu offers a vast array of options and will suit the need of any type of customer. Anywhere from seafood and steak to hamburgers and fries, which is really helpful when dining with a larger, different group of people. The restaurant is especially appealing to me in the summer time as I spend a lot of time on Hamilton's trendy Locke street and the Beasley House is the only one with a patio??!!! Great place for lunch, as the owner always provides exceptional service, and never rushes you ! Overall, my experience was great and I would definitely recommend and return!! Read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and took a chance trying this restaurant for the first time. We were pleasantly suprised and absoloutely loved the experience. We ordered the Peppercorn Shrimp appetizer and the Roesti with Smolked Salmon. Delicious and plenty to share. We then ordered the Shrimp Pasta and the Hunter Schnitzel. The food is really outstanding!! best schnitzel I've ever had!! Super value. The service was extremely professional and very attentive and pleasant. At the end we ordered the Creme Brule and what an excellent finishing touch to a great meal. The ambiance in the restaurant is very inviting and romantic. Been twice for lunch in the past 3 months, once on a weekday , once on a saturday. Very busy on Saturday, and understaffed, but the servers did a great job considering the number of tables. Burger was excellent, melted in my mouth, a tiny bit of hot pepper mixed in was subtle, but a tasty novelty. Everything seemed freshly made with fresh ingredients. Fries were shoestring style, but piping hot and very good. Dry ribs were a tiny portion and virtually no meat, but my son liked them anyway. Rather expensive, over $100 both times. My son loves the selection of pastas, and my husband could have an affair with their ribs! Service is fast and efficient, I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to receive each course. Another delicious meal at Umberto's last night, with great service, a quiet table, and an unpretentious atmosphere. A side note, but important, they hit just the right note with the background music. Smooth jazz at just enough volume to enjoy. It was fairly quiet for a Thursday night, but the other half dozen or so tables were also filled with diners expressing their appreciation for a good meal. Beef carpaccio was, like all the dishes, the perfect size portion. My husband and I shared it well as the bruschetta, which was a little too cheesy for me but perfect for him. The chef salad is a great mix of greens and veg with a nice vinaigrette. The ostrich and kangaroo - what can I say - grilled/sauteed just beautifully and mouthwateringly delicious. The Shiraz reduction was a very nice accompaniment to the kangaroo. Both entrees were served with roasted veg and potatoes, nicely seasoned, as well as a charming little fresh vegetable relish/slaw on radicchio. Shared a bottle of 2009 Rosemount Cab Shiraz, chosen from the small but interesting wine list, proved a good choice. We lingered over tiramisu and flourless chocolate hazelnut cake, preferring the tiramisu. The "Umberto" specialty coffee was a lovely finish to the meal. Ingredients were fresh, attention was paid to presentation, and the service was very attentive yet not intrusive. We will definitely be back. (I will try the seafood pasta next time - 3 of the table of 6 near us ordered it as their favorite) Read more
