July 13, 1799, the Township of Rawdon solemnly recognized and its borders demarcated. Two theories exist regarding the origin of the name of our municipality. According to some, the city was named in honor of Rawdon Lord Francis Rawdon, Earl of Moira and Marquess of Hastings. Others argue that the allocation of the name comes from a town, village or township of England.In 1824, some 475 people live Rawdon, 75% are of Irish origin.
