Resto Végo St-Denis welcomes you to their establishment. They are open after-hours all week and are conveniently reachable by bicycle. The neighboring location is remarkable for its restaurants and stores.
Guylaine and Bernard Duchesne are the owners of Resto Végo on Saint-Denis Street, a vegetarian restaurant that has been around since 1981. The brother and sister duo, originally from the Saguenay, moved to Montreal to join the project of a friend who was opening a restaurant known at the time as Le Commensal.
"My brother had the business and go-getting side of things while the former owner excelled in cooking," explains Guylaine, who quickly forged her passion for vegetarian cooking by immersing herself in the restaurant culture. Although she had no restaurant experience, Guylaine had gained enormous experience at the family grocery store.
"I've always worked in food, an amazing field," she says. "I continued because of my passion for food. Besides, I'm a gourmet," she laughs. "Veggie food is sometimes frowned upon, yet there are so many fun products to discover," she adds. For Guylaine, Resto Végo is the perfect place for anyone who wants to discover vegetarianism.
