Meet the owner

The concept behind Mezcla is simple: to explore Nuevo Latino cuisine by working with quality seasonal Quebec products. This is the mandat that owner Gerardo Labarca has assigned to himself since opening the restaurant in 2012.

When you enter this bright Champlain Street location, your eye is immediately struck by the green expanse of microshoots under the neon lights of the rough wood bar and dozens of edible plants. The restaurant decor is warm and natural, aesthetic yet casual, in the image of its owner.

Just amazing!

Went to Mezcla for the first time last weekend and it was a total blast. We took the discovery menu and everything was delicious! They have 2 chefs in the restaurant that take care of the fish and meat plates respectively. A definite must try.

excellente TABLE..!

Note: 10/10

Eating local: A locavore’s guide to Montreal restaurants

Opening to critical acclaim in 2012, Mezcla suggests a nuevo latino cuisine using produits du terroir. While the menu is very seasonal and changes often, their signature ceviche mixto is a mainstay; and aren’t we glad for that! Otherwise you are likely to run into Cornish hen, bison or Gaspor farm porcelet, all from la belle province naturally.

Opened to critical acclaim in 2012, Mezcla suggests a nuevo latino cuisine using produits du terroir. While the menu is very seasonal and changes often, their signature ceviche mixto is a mainstay; and aren’t we glad for that! You’ll find a generous portion of squid and fish swimming in a leche de tigre sauce, served with fried sweet potato and yuca shavings, canchas and white corn for garnish and texture. Heard enough?

Mezcla offers "nuevo latino" cuisine, that is to say a fusion of South American cuisines adapted with techniques from French and other European cuisines. The dishes are mostly prepared with local Quebec products and wines are privately imported from Latin America and Spain. On the menu: pulled or braised meat, fish, crab and octopus, sweet and sour flavours, and cassava fries. 5 or 7 course menus are also available.
