Emerging from the association of two creative women, Jacinthe Proulx and Emmanuelle Montiglio, Kakee is a graphic design studio that puts sustainability and environmental responsibility at the heart of its business. “We both wanted to work for a company with values matching our own, which are sustainable development and sustainable practices. We worked in different agencies, but none of them fully satisfied us. So, we decided to build the business we were dreaming of,” says Jacinthe.
“Design agencies departments often work in silos. So, it is very frequent for a designer not to be aware of the entire project, not to be able to see the overall strategy behind what he needs to do and to not be consulted when it is time to choose the materials and formats,” says Emmanuelle. “So a more sustainable and environmentally responsible approach is often impossible, because it requires careful thinking and strategic vision of the global project. This is precisely why we needed to create Kakee: responsible graphic design.”
Launched in 2007, Kakee relies on the management and creativity of Emmanuelle and Jacinthe. “We also have someone responsible for business development, since the service we offer is increasingly sought after, because companies now understand the importance of sustainable practices,” adds Jacinthe.
