Cafe 8 oz is the dream project of Claude-Sophie Barsalo and Xavier Girard. The couple had always wanted to open a cafe and finally did with Cafe 8 oz, located on Saint-Hubert Street in Rosement-La-Petite-Patrie. The business reflects the couple — calm and warm — but mostly, it's all about good coffee.

Claude-Sophie and Xavier met in a cafe where they were both working. As a film editor, she has always had an entrepreneurial streak and Xavier had been head waiter in a large Montreal restaurant. It was strictly by chance that the couple embarked on an adventure and in November 2014 opened their cafe. "8 oz" refers to the couple's lucky number.
