It was the beginning of a new adventure for Eva Cubas and Martin Hall when they opened Café Martin in May 2014. "Before this, I worked in the steel industry," says Eva, "but then I was laid off from my job. So Martin suggested it might be the perfect time to realize my dream of opening a coffee shop ."
Because Eva has had a love affair with coffee for as long as she can remember, she and Martin decided to make it the central focus of their cafe. “I can’t sleep without coffee,” laughs Eva, whose relationship with the alluring liquid began in her childhood. "I would wake up to my grandmother grinding the coffee in the morning," she recalls. "So the smell of it is very familiar and comforting.”
