If you want to go out with friends, unwind, and eat well, Bobby on Wellington Street in Pointe-Saint-Charles is the restaurant for you. Owner Bruno Rathbone welcomes customers to his gastropub as if it were his home.
Bobby has the feel of a vintage chalet: a wooden bar, leather sofa, old skis on the wall and two large blackboards display the dishes on offer. Bruno opened this trendy gastropub in November 2013. "The restaurant meets a big need in Pointe-Saint-Charles," he acknowledges. With a kitchen that stays open until late, Bobby has received a warm welcome in the neighbourhood, where venues like this are rare.
Previously a visual artist, Bruno ran an urban art gallery for 10 years in Sherbrooke. The young entrepreneur loves a good challenge and when the former owner, the famous Bobby, approached him to convert his café into a restaurant, Bruno decided to get on board with the project. He now runs the gastropub himself, but has kept the name. "Everyone calls me Bobby now, even my mother," says Bruno with a chuckle.
