Everything was fantastic; we enjoyed the meal and the service. Perfect flavor, portion and suggestion. Thank you for being so patient and accommodating to our party; we really appreciated!! We also enjoyed the view!
Beautiful atmosphere! The service is great. Adam was very knowledgeable and professional. We were very impressed with the service. The food was delicious. We had a great experience.
Toula is a very good restaurant. This is our second time here in three days. The service is good; the server is very helpful and friendly. Excellent panorama!! Thanks to all the staffs for the great service.
The ambiance is wonderful. The service is great. The staff is courteous, polite and attentive. Our server was amazing! The food was delicious, steak was perfect!
Everything was excellent; this is my 3rd visit within one week. Our server was wonderful; she is a great waitress with customers and pays attention to detail. It was a pleasure.
Excellent, friendly & professional service. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu which was great for us new comers. I can't wait to return.
Great service and an incredible experience at Toula. The waiter was wonderful, he always come to our table with a smile and very personable. Thank you for an amazing time.
Aldo was great. Always there to top up our glasses whether it was wine or water. Very polite! Excellent customer service. Delicious Veal, Beats, and Risotto.
We went for dinner during Summer Liscious. The food was mediocre at best (especially considering it is supposed to be fine dining). Two people ordered medium steaks and they were closer to medium well/ well (barely any pink), I had the sea bass and it was over cooked as well. The server kept staring down at the chest of my friend and lingered in a very awkward way. Then the bus person came to our table and told us we had to leave because they needed to change the table over and the reason we hadn't left was because the server still had our bills!! I worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years, there are more tactful ways to get people to leave, but I have never seen someone with the audacity to actually say please stand up because I need this table!!! Finally when we spoke to the manager about this he was condescending and didn't seem to actually care! Worst Service I have ever had!
We decided to check this out for Winterlicious because the menu seemed very enticing. After reading reviews we prepared ourselves for something less than average, so we were expecting very little from this place. The view of the city is beautiful, that's if you're lucky to get a seat on the good side of the restaurant. There's been a lot of reviews stating that the service is poor at this restaurant; it's definately not what my partner and I are accustomed to which would be very attentive servers, but our server was friendly. I wouldn't say she was trying to get to know us, or even introduce herself to us, but she was friendly Again, don't forget, we prepared ourselves based on others reviews. The food was ok. That's all I can really say about it. The highlight in the meal was my appetizer, and my for my partner it was the dessert. There wasn't anything special to it. It wasn't bad, yet it wasn't the best meal ever. Overall, this place was ok; it was worth experiencing for Winterlicious, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to dine here again.
INITIAL: Being excited as this was my first Winterlicious experience, I booked a place that seemed like a nice restaurant with a great overview of the city during sunset. I made reservations on the first possible day for non-AMEX holders, and all the times I want were already booked! So I went with 5pm dinner. This made me extra excited as I thought the only reason it was completely booked was probably because the food was good! So I was looking forward to it. ATMOSPHERE: Upon entering the restaurant, it gives off a very high-class appeal. All the waiters and waitresses were dressed fashionably, and the decor seems very modern and new. Gives off a very nice first impression. This restaurant is circular in nature, with tables situated near the windows to give the patrons a nice view of the city and/or the lake. FOOD: What surprised me most was the food. I am not sure if it only happens during Winterlicious, but the food my girlfriend and I received were lukewarm at best, was not even hot enough to make it seem fresh. This was consistent for all the dishes we had. The portions I thought were very small. Again I note, I am not sure if this is just for Winterlicious or if it is like this during the regular season. Good thing my girlfriend does not eat a lot, for I ate half her main course and by the time I finished dessert, I was only approx. 60% full. Definitely not worth the price of $35 not including gratuity and tax. The quality of food, was okay, could have been better. The lack of warmth in the food was a major upset for me as this is probably the most important aspect in a meal. SERVICE: Not the best service in the world. Again, not sure if it was because it was Winterlicious and everyone was busy, or they just lacked the common decency for good service. I had to literally call out to the waiter to get my ice water refilled (twice). And I would expect that they asked for a refill on the bread, but that didn't happen. They did not even ask for pepper for the main course. All of those are okay, I can tolerate that, but what got me most was that I felt like I was rushed. Having been seated for a 5pm dinner, I was finished and out by 6:15pm. Usually high-end Western restaurants are slower and take longer, but this was completely the opposite. As soon as I was done a plate, it would be taken away almost immediately and then my next one would come right away, attached with the bill already. They did not even ask for coffee or tea. OVERALL: It was a disappointing first experience for Winterlicious. I'm sorry to say, but I already had a reservation for another restaurant next week, but after this upsetting experience, I am seriously considering cancelling the reservation for next week despite it being a different restaurant. I don't want to travel to Toronto on a weekend for a disappointing meal where I could get a more decent one closer to home. Toula should definitely have better service and hotter meals next time or this is probably the first and last time I will ever go there. Enjoy! Hope this review helped! =)
I dont usually write reviews however I enjoyed my experience so much this past weekend I was courious to look at reviews and was astonished to hear negative comments. I have never had such an amazing meal, atmosphere and service in all my 20 years in toronto. I recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner, weddings, and foother large groups. Thank You Toula!
Had my brothers' 30th birthday reserved at Toula restaurant. This was a very special day for all of us. We reserved for a table of 4. We were astonished with the exceptional view upon arrival. The staff were very professional and polite. The service provided by the waiter was very professional and he was very attentive to small details. The food was the highlight of the night. I had their Carpaccio and the Washington Rack of Lamb.. The lamb was grilled to perfection and the fresh mint sauce that the chef made for me was out of this world. I will definately be back and recommend Toula to everyone.
We went there today for my girlfriend's birthday because we heard the view was very nice. I was a bit disappointed that they have placed us on the other side of dinning room, which didn't have much of a view. Anyways, the food was really poor. We had a few pasta dish, a herb crusted lamb, steak and risotto. Besides the fact that the food took a long time to arrive, when I got my risotto, it was undercooked. It was chalky in the middle of the rice. I tasted my friend's same risotto and it was fine (but slightly undercooked). The waiter simply told me it was suppose to have a crunch... (not the same as chalky undercooked rice) Anyways, I was looking forward for my herb crusted lamb. It was more disappointing than the risotto. The herb crust was soggy and the lamb was blend. The sauce was over salted so I guess it worked out... cold pepper garnish with overcooked asparagus was just terrible. I didn't want to sent back all my food, so I had the decency to finish it. The service was ok, not superb for the price you are paying. Overall, the food is not good at all especially for the price you are paying. If you ever plan to visit, make sure you ask for the seats that gets the best view of the city and not some black space covered by some random apartment buildings.
Our Visit to Toula Restaurant was absolutely outstanding. I had arranged in advance a businesss meeting reservation at Toula. Coming up to restaurant was very delightful in their scenic elevator. The hostess greeted us with a warm pleasant smile which made us all feel comfortable upon arrival. I must say that coming from New York, we were all very impressed with the view and the ambiance of the restaurant. If we are talking about Italian food, I strongly believe Toula is at the top of the list in North America. I travel alot across North America for business and dine at many Italaian Restaurants. I haven't come across a restauant like Toula that makes homemade fresh pasta. Hand Made Gnocchi with Provola Cheese and the Crab Ravioli were the two most popular dishes that evening. I personally had the herb crusted Washington rack of Lamb which was grilled perpectly to Medium. The Service was friendly and precise. Our waiter Renato was the highlight of our experience. He is an asset to the establishment for his knowledge on food, wine and customer service is beyond any expectation. I will definately dine at Toula next time i'm in Toronto
We went to this restaurant as we were staying in the hotel, and it was one of the package deal restaurants with Mirvish. First of all we did not use the package deal, for our free meal, as they had a very limited menu for the free meal, and it had no appeal. Other than the view this restaurant has little going for it. The decorating & atmosphere is poor. The wait staff is atrocious, with all main wait staff being the most snotty east indians. They treat you like you don't belong there. My meal was good (but small portions of course). I had beef tenderloin that was perfectly cooked and very melt in the mouth. This must be their specialty. My husband order seafood linguine. He eats everything, so this is really unusual, but he couldn't hardly eat it, it was soooo bad. The seafood was undercooked, and disgusting (by his words). I have never seen him not eat his food. When we complained about it, they did not offer to fix it. The waiter offered dessert. When we declined he came back a few minutes later and haughtily informed us, he would take off my husbands dinner. I had one glass of wine, hubby had 1 beer, and seafood bisque, which also was the worst he's ever had. Most of the stuff on the menu was seafood, so to do it badly was not a good indication. So with only my dinner and the few other things I mentioned the bill still came to $85.00. By the way the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu was $55.00 (only 2 kinds) up to $150. We did want a bottle of wine, but not at that price. And we are talking kinds that are about $25 other places.
I was searching around Toronto for a really nice place to take my fiance for dinner and came across Toula, too bad for us. I did read the reviews before going, but thought maybe it's better than what people are saying, turns out people speak the truth. The view from the restaurant was excellent and almost made it worth the trip, almost. We did a 3 course meal and right off the beginning it was a slow start. The appetizers (eggplant and toula salad) did come out quickly so quickly you think they would have been hot, but the plate was hotter then the eggplant. The main course was better (Gnocchi and Veal Chop) overall though it was average and we were not overly impressed. We rounded out the night with dessert (Crème Brulée and Chocolate Parfait) The Crème Brulée and Parfait were quite good and the tea was nice...tetley will never let you down. Throughout the night the service was good although seems like the waiter is always just hovering around. Again the view and atmosphere were also nice, but can't make up that much for the food. I would suggest trying another fine dining spot before heading to Toula's.
Beside the fabulous food( " best italian restaurant in town"), Toula has a spectacular view ! try to catch the sunset , with a glass o prosecco , magic! The service is very warm and professional .You are in great hands with them. Special thanks to the manager Andrea. Ciao!
The pluses are few: the bocconcini/tomato salad was fresh, delicate and tasty. The butternut squash soup was creamy and nicely seasoned. Beef tenderloin was on the well side of medium-well ordered but lots and tasty. Everything was served at the same time which allowed us to eat together. We weren't hurried so we enjoyed the views. The minuses: The main server was sporadic - definitely not attentive for the prices. Wine prices reduced our consumption to a few overpriced glasses. Sliced veal was overcooked dry and tasteless and bacon strips in between were actually tough. Proscuito over powered the shrimp which was very firm as double cooked or cooked from frozen. The lamb was fatty. The cornish hen was dry, overcooked. Had to ask for water refills. Vegetables were unimaginative and the same for each plate: one baby carrot, one zucchini slice, a few red pepper slices, a few roast potato chunks. Table ambiance was 'family restaurant'.
