Sunrise Grill & Crepe specializes in breakfast and brunch, but it’s far from a greasy spoon.
Indeed, you won’t find deep-fried hash browns or fat-soaked eggs on the menu at this popular Roncesvalles Avenue restaurant. Mohammad Khorrami, Sunrise’s owner, says he opened the warm, airy eatery in 2006 to realize his vision of “serving food that is healthy and light in an atmosphere that is comfortable for families.”
In the 1990s, Mohammad worked as a chef at an all-day creperie. Because the skinny pancakes are so nutritious and breakfast-friendly — Sunrise’s fillings include bananas in a creamy chocolate-hazelnut mix; blueberries, strawberries and custard or chocolate; and savoury spinach, melted feta, walnuts and caramelized onion — he felt that Sunrise should focus on pre-dinner meals.
Plus, he jokes, “It’s nice to run a place that closes at 4 p.m. I want to have a life!”
I have been going to Sunrise Grill and Crepe for many years. It's the best breakfast restaurant out there. AMAZING food, great atmosphere, great staff and all at a reasonable price. The chef is truly a culinary artist when it comes to breakfast/brunch food. I recommend this place to everyone.

The service here is always good, even when they are at capacity. There is a little patio which is nice to eat at in warmer months.
It's preferable to sit in the front section of the restaurant as the booths along the kithcen and the back room are generally too hot.
