Pimlico Design Gallery offers an artfully curated selection of contemporary design accessories, furniture and lighting. The store's owner and founder Tatiana Velasevic isn't your typical home decor retailer, and her Dupont Street shop isn't by-the-book, either. For one, the elegant and immaculately put-together Tatiana is a trained interior designer.
“After 12 years as an interior designer, I decided to open a shop,” she explains. “It's kind of a natural extension of my interior design practice…I wanted to offer some things that I thought would be interesting and new in Toronto.”
The beautifully appointed store isn't just a simple home decor retailer, but an interior design destination. One look at the design-oriented displays and carefully curated offerings and the difference is clear. “It's becoming more and more like a concept shop that caters more and more to the design community in Toronto and the rest of Canada,” she says.
While based near the intersection of Dupont and Christie, Pimlico Design Gallery ships all over the country and beyond. Tatiana credits the geographically broad name recognition at least in part to the store's substantial media coverage. Pimlico’s products have been featured (and the store, name-dropped) in various covetable publications including House and Home, Toronto Life, Design Lines and National Post, to name a few. Even The New York Times twice showcased Pimlico’s products.
