In the newly developing neighbourhood of Danforth Village, community members have been asking for more social hangout spots, so it's good news that resident bibliophiles Damon Scheffer and his wife were looking to start a new chapter in their careers. In the fall of 2015, when a long-standing used bookstore was in the process of shutting down, the couple decided to open Press, a shop for books, coffee and vinyl.
“Books, records and coffee are all things we really love," says Damon. “After spending five years in the neighbourhood, we felt adding coffee to a bookstore was a natural fit and something there isn’t enough of in the area.” Press became part of a new wave of small businesses that has been moving eastbound along the Danforth.
