Owl Optometry’s eyewear boutique is spacious — but for how much longer? “People keep giving me owls,” laughs owner Dr. Agata Majewski. “Statues, pillows, toys, pictures…soon I’m going to run out of room.”
Indeed, soon after opening in the spring of 2014, several ceramic birds already decorated the clinic’s tidy shelves, echoing the adorable logo on the signage outside. “We wanted a brand that would appeal to kids,” Agata explains. “Owls kind of look like they’re wearing glasses, and they have good eyesight, and I just liked the sound of it.”
Why appeal to kids? “There are so many children in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood, so I wanted something that was open and friendly where people can come and be comfortable.”
Comfortable kids make for comfortable parents, after all, which is why Agata added a cozy, pillow-strewn play area to a corner of the clinic. The theme? You guessed it: owls.
