Addus opened the Eglinton location in 1997 as 'On the Move'. Founder Suzie Addison-Toor was inspired by her sister Jenny Addison to create a local community program for adults with developmental disabilities. Today, Addus has a well-developed team of professionals supporting 50 families annually across Toronto.Addus also has a successful vocation program that has been running since 2002 that supports participants to work in the community. Addus has successfully developed partnerships with community employers who are also committed to enhancing opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities as well as to diversifying their workforce. Current employers include: Starbucks, Body Shop, Swiss Chalet, TDSB – Kent Daycare and North Toronto Community Centre.We continue to empower and support people with disabilities as they take charge of their own lives.
