SIMCOE - A banjo signed by Mumford & Sons has fetched $5,900 US for the Norfolk Association for Community Living.The instrument, crafted by Deering Banjo, the Great American Banjo Company, earned 48 bids over the week-long online auction.All of the proceeds from the auction will go to NACL.''We are really proud to be the recipients,said Stella Barker, executive director of NACL, on Monday morning. ''This really is the highlight of our diamond anniversary.''NACL provides services to about 160 people in Norfolk County with disabilities, assisting them with employment and recreational services.NACL strives to ensure all residents are involved and true citizens. The agency also provides education dealing with inclusion to area youth and adults.Deering Banjos will auction of a one-of-a-kind banjo designed for each of the five Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers this year.The first banjo designed for the Lewes Stopover had a winning bid of $2,948.89 (about $4,793 in Canadian dollars).Barker noted it was exciting to watch the bids change over the week.more...See more text
