This is my second visit to Splice's new S Burger addition. I first heard of it when I saw a Wagjag. Although I was hesitant at first, I figured that every joint is at least worth a try. I was expecting rather mediocre food given that the venue's primary face is a nightclub. I think this is the same reason why they are not getting the number of patrons they deserve. The food was surprisingly good. Excellent burger & fries served with a pleasantly garlicy aioli, and the organic wings with housemade sauces were quite good as well. The service is hit or miss depending on who you get (the dark haired girl was very attentive and accommodating). If you haven't tried out Splice since the addition of S Burger, I would highly recommend it. Quality ingredients & good service. Just don't order the coffee...
how should I start this off? Splice is a drinking place. It will always be a drinking place. Went to out this place for the first time for lunch to see how it was. The burger was pretty good, fries were really good and that's about it. I got a salad as well with balsamic vinegar dressing and the vinegar was so strong on it that it was burning my eyes as well as my friends eyes. We were the only ones in there and the food took almost 30mins to make. On my salad I got cheddar cheese when the menu said parmesan. and I got a pickle "platter" which was supposed to be composed of homemade pickles and peppers. When I asked about it I was told that I was getting a "pickle platter" and what I got was a pickle cut in half and that was it. Definitely NOT worth it. My friend got the burger and there was so much extra bun that he had just ripped it off and set it aside. Don't try to make the burger look bigger by putting it in a huge bun! Then to top it off, our server didn't even wait until I was done eating before she dropped the bill off. Didn't ask if we wanted tea or coffee or dessert. I would definitely never come here for lunch and am telling all of my friends to stay clear unless they are going there for a drink! If a restaurant is dead at peak times just stay away!
Recently, I used this establishment's back room as a venue for a fundraising event to benefit a student group in town. We worked closely with the Splice staff to develop signature drinks for the event, which were a big hit with all of the event's patrons. The atmosphere of the lounge is fantastic. A smooth blend of contemporary art mixed with slick furnishings and comfortable lighting gives the lounge the feel of a cosmopolitan establishment one might find in a city like New York or Los Angeles. What really shines at Splice though is the service. The owner and staff were very dedicated to making sure that we had all of the support we could ask for in order to make the evening a complete success. Two of the most experienced bartenders I've seen in this town were providing bar service for our patrons, quite easily serving a room of sixty or so. A few of the event's patrons ordered appetizers, and the feedback that I received from them was that the food was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to host an event, and I'll most certainly be back.
I have always been a fan of this place, for dinner as well as a night out. I have been twice now to try the new menu and was very impressed both times. The new menu is inventive and unlike any other in town. I can't wait to try more. The service was wonderful and the chef even came out to be sure we were satisfied. I have also chosen Splice as a venue for a couple private functions. The staff was wonderful and the catering menu is deelish. I would absolutely book more events in the future.
Great spot for drinks, tapas, service.... I would definitely visit again. I suggest coconut shrimp, asparagus, and the "clear blue" martini. Service was great! I have been later at night for birthdays/going out as well. Great atmosphere, clean, polite, and cheerful staff. Live band was also fabulous!
We were the only two people in the restaurant. The food was good, the prices were decent - you get what you pay for. Service was good, but considering we were the only two people there, it should've been. Dessert wasn't spectacular but the overall ambience and the other food was good. Would recommend!
I first came to Splice for a special occasion dinner. My dining partner often eats at Toronto's top restaurants for business and he was very impressed with the food, as was I. The menu offers tapas-style dishes and items were nicely spiced, well presented and ideally cooked. I have returned about 4 times since then with groups ranging in size from 2 to 7. The food was consistantly good and the service has been attentive, friendly and personalized. I'm sorry the last reviewer had such a bad time, on what was obviously an exceptionally bad night from a service standpoint
