Today we went for lunch at marty moos. We heard their specialty was chicken so all four of us ordered different chicken dishes. Everyone was disappointed with the chicken part of their meal it was super rubbery and almost tasted freezer burnt. The computers went down while we were there so it took along time to finish up and get our bill. The rice bowl was delicious (except for the chicken). Might just have been a bad day
I'm not sure what restaurantica12 problem is with this restaurant. Me and my husband comes here about once a month and it's fantastic, except simetimes when he gets the full rack of ribs one of them isn't the greatest. And honestly it's the best meal for your buck. Will recommended it to anybody who isn't fussy on where they eat just what they eat. Good home cooked meals. Yummy yummy!
Just as others have stated, I went here by recommendation. Won't be back. My wife's veg. wrap was adequate but my chicken was dry and overcooked and smothered in a BBQ sauce. It was no doubt been sitting under a heat lamp or something for quite some time. I should've guessed something was up when, from ordering to table, only took about 4 minutes!
I was recommended this restaurant by friends, but after my first visit i was highly unsatisfied. I visited this restaurant a couple more times only for the sheer fact that it was close to my house and hoping that negative experience wouldn't be repeated, and surely it was. The food is below average and over priced, they are apparently famous for their chicken and ribs, but you will find better quality and quantity at your local Swiss chalet! There menu says free refill on drinks, which is one refill, then any additional drinks are charged full price! the food is left to be desired, and is EASILY COMPARABLE TO LEFT OVERS FOUND IN THE BACK OF YOUR FRIDGE AFTER TWO WEEKS. The service, is average, but the policies from management are absurd! if you unsatisfied with your meal you must tell them immediately, because if you consume almost half of your meal, even out of politeness for your company, they wont refund or exchange your meal in anyway! The decor is juvenile and uncomfortable. I don't know if the building was previously a daycare, but the bright flooring and wooden ABC borders around the windows are just weird! The table and chairs are cheap and uncomfortable. my recommendation if you are interested in chicken and ribs for dinner is to either go to captain George's on Landsdowne, or the bohemian Bbq in Lakefield.
We went to Marty Moos on the premise that it was an excellent restaurant. I was horribly disappointed in the bland tasting food and the expense of which cheaper tastier food can be found anywhere else. The pulled pork sandwich was likened to old shoe leather, and when we complained we were given nothing as compensation. I did try this place three times, I have never given a restaurant three trys before and was horribly disappointed everytime I went. From the one refill policy on there "bottomless" soft drinks to the attitude of there management to the expense I would never ever suggest this place to anybody and quite frankly would be embarassed to take a friend or family member there. TO Marty Moos itsself you better step up because your restaurant is sub par in every aspect and it looks like a day care with its bright colured floor tiles and baby border aroud the window. The customer should always feel comfortable and at ease not on edge do to your hostility. Please save your money and don't go here.
Good food, huge portions and FANTASTIC service from the four different waitresses that have served us each time we have eaten at this restaurant. Simple meals (I enjoy the chicken pot pie myself) and a relaxed atmosphere make this a comfortable place to drop in, anytime, for a meal. Waitresses keep tabs on your meal progress but do not pester you. The final tab at the end of it all is quite easy on the wallet. I find it hard to criticize anything about this restaurant other than the decor... but recent renovations have begun to address this it appears.
chicken pot pie is excellent roll and salad comes with it.Its usually so large that I never have room for deserts. My husband decided to burger and fries just he could have desert and it was so big he still couldn't order anything else. We have also ordered 1/4 chicken and ribs and they are just as good.would recommend if u have a good appetite
It's a funny thing that people in Peterborough keep recommending this place to their friends. I guess they don't get out much. If you like a diner or diner food, just like they used to make in 1965 then this is the place for you. If you want nothing fancy on cheap dishes then I recommend it. Please be clear when you advise someone to try this place. It's a DINER! It's so typical of the greasy spoon, except that it's in a parking lot beside a gas station off the highway, that you really ought not to be disappointed by the blandness of the food. Remember those really old school coffee cups that are low, thick and striped with a wide pale pink? Remember waitresses named Madge? It's cheap. It's fast - nothing on the menu that can't be whipped up quick or zapped from frozen. You get what you pay for. Lots of room to park your truck.
The chicken pot pie is EXCELLENT !! If you have to wait it's well worth the wait.Good sized portions and good value for the dollar.
We heard people say that this restaurant was pretty good place, so we thought we would give a try...not sure if these people are stupid or their taste buds are dead. But this was the first & last time for us. We only had a hamburg and fries with coleslaw. The hamburg and buns were burnt, gives a whole new meaning to char-boil. The coleslaw is out of a bucket, the hamburgs were bigfoot patties (not impressed), fries of course are frozen. If there was no way of getting frozen packaged food, half the restaurants in Peterborough area would have to shut down. I would like to see cooks take a little pride in what they are putting infront of there PAYING customers
We first tried this restaurant for our anniversary on someones recommendation. My husband had chicken and ribs and I had the 'pale' chicken pot pie. He found the chicken pale, tasteless and undercooked but he quite liked the ribs. My pot pie was average. We decided to try it again for lunch. He had fish and chips. They were frozen variety (poor quality) and he left at least 2/3's of his meal on the plate. This is a big man who is clearly an eater. The waitress didn't seem the least bit surprised, nor did she ask anything about our satisfaction. I ordered the steak on a ciabatta. The piece of meat was small and contained gristle. The advertised caramelized onions were not cooked and almost not there. The meal was not good value - we seldom eat out but $29 for such poor quality seems unreasonable. Unfortunately he has said we will not give them a third chance.
My family has been going to the moo's for years we go as a group and most of our celebrations are at the moo's because we get good food and lots of it. Our complaint is we always seem to get the waitress Michelle she is pleasant in her own self centered way but always refers to everything as I have this and I have that, etc and when we approach the till she always says here I am..please!! Last week however we were at the moo's and to our delight we had a different waitress Sandy smile always on her face and the most amasing blue eyes and she was so delightful it was so refreshing to have a nice waitress for once. I recomment this place highly as the food is always good..
we were there a couple of years ago and we live 12 hours away and are now planning a trip to peterbourgh just to come back we never had food like that in our live. THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE WE ATE FOR 4 DAYS THIS IS THE BEST RESTERANT IN THE WORLD.
Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the food portions were huge (we shared the chicken pot pie and the cheesecake). Don't let the fact that it looks like a dive fool you - the food is worth the trip. They had an absolutely stunning variety of pie.
We shared the chicken pot pie and it was big enough for the 2 of us. The waitress was friendly and attantive in spite of having many other customers to serve. The deep fried cheese cake is "to die for" Totally decadent and well worth the trip just for dessert. Highly recommended as the portions are large and tasty.
A casual family restaurant. Has a mix of freshly prepared and store bought items. Oddly decorated (leftover from a childcare?) and out of the way. Fantastic ribs and good service.
Excellent for casual dining, quantities are plentiful, quality is excellent
