Shocking service!! No attention to detail or customer concerns. Literally have to get up and find a server to get drinks, then arrive with wrong orders and orders missing! Brown soggy salad, under flamed cheese with too much lemon. When eventually getting servers attention, after most people had finished their appetiser, to ask where one person's was, was told flippantly they don't have it in stock! Place has been slipping for months.. very disappointed!!
We enjoyed a lovely dinner! Waitress was very attentive and nice. The entire restaurant had the ambiance of being in Spain as i have visited Spain. Will recommend this restaurant to friends and family! Great job to management and staff!
Have eaten here about a dozen times over the last 5-6 years and I can say that the quality of the food has gone down hill big time. On my last and final visit we ordered grilled chicken, lamb, calamari, spanikopita and salad. All of the dishes had overly huge black grill marks on them with a layer of burned crust and with each bite all you could taste was a chalky charcoal taste. It was disgusting. You could tell that they tried to hide it by putting the most badly burned sides face down on the plates. We pointed it out to the server and they merely grumbled an apology took our food and offered us a free, tiny dessert that we didn't even want. Try cleaning your grill once in a while. The lamb tasted like it was cooked the day before and just reheated. We left hungry after paying almost $120 for dinner and wine. What happened to this place? It used to be good and for the money they charge its not cheap. Its a shame because I love the atmosphere but the food is not what it used to be.
Good food as always, but the prices are getting up there! Wine list in particular. In these tough times that should be kept front and foremost in menu/wine planning.
I wont go back only because i ordered takeout, and their were fruit flies in my salad. I had been many times before, but this grossed me out. The restaurant experience was different, and I always liked their lamb souvlaki, the cheese they light on fire, and their dessert (baklava)
The food is ok. No more, no less. My father is Greek and owned a restaurant in NY for several years(still in existence) and his food is much better. Also, I can prepare better Greek food at home (although I don't always want to cook). The souvlaki is not spiced enough.. I ordered the pikilia, the spreads are ok but they served butter beans cold...Not the best but definitely not the worse. It is consistent;however. Never great but definitely never bad. Just average.
Service, food and atmosphere is always good. it is in a perfect location downtown Oakville.
Wednesday night dinner - fantastic service, the server surprised us with a free dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary - so sweet of her. LOVED the Greek Sangria - amazing drink and the sausage/butter bean appy was incredible ! We'll be back.
My partner and I had not been to Colossus in a while and forgot how great it is! Had a great dinner, great table and a very nice server. A really, really nice time and a great meal. We both remarked that we need to start coming for dinner more often. Location in Port Credit is also very good.
I have been to Colossus many times before and every time food and service were excellent. I have tried most of the items from their menu and have never been disappointed. Their food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. I have to admit that their service is not always "top notch" but is acceptable and I personally go to restaurants to enjoy a good meal rather than to focus on the service quality. Highly recommended!
I have been to Colossus many times before, I have gone with large parties, a few friends, family, just my fiance and I. I have been there at different times and days, lunch on a wednesday, dinner on friday, late night on saturday etc. Every single experience was unforgettable. The taste and quality of the food is outstanding. It's not perfect, and I did have to send something back once but overall it's an excellent restaurant. I would reccomend making reservations, it's a guarantee you wont be rushed, or have to wait. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Yes it's not a vast space with tons of room, but I like the intimacy. On many occasions I have ordered the Colossus Array, which consists of samples of most of the main dishes, 2 breasts of lemon chicken, 1 beef medallion, 3-4 greek sausages, 1 lg mousaka, salad, potatoes, rice, quail, lamb, and a bunch of other things i can't even remember. But for about 66.00 you get a lot of food! It is supposed to be for 2, but i usually take home enough food to make two large lunches the next day. I would highly reccommed it as you get a chance to try a chunk of the main dishes. I have always recieved promt polite service from the staff. The pita and oil/balsamic starter is always quickly brought and refills are plentiful. The feta cheescake is amazing. Definatly worth a try!
Although the food was well presented, used fresh ingredients and the taramosalata which was very good and you can tell was home made the problem I had was that the value sucked. With the souvlaki dinner there certainly was not much given for the price you paid compared to any Greek restaurant (casual or fine dining) lets say on the Danforth and it didn't have any special authentic flavour to it at all either. My Greek mother-in-law can put together a real quick meal that would taste more authentic than this place. The Kalamari barely had any feta that it was supposed to be stuffed with. The kicker although I do understand the price of flour and wheat rising is that the majority of times you go to a nice restaurant let alone European let alone Greek you get served with some bread or pita. I've also visited this restaurant before and it was customary to receive it. This visit I didn't receive any and when I politely asked for 'a' pita to accompany my dinner I was given one pita cut in 2 halves and charged for 2 pitas on my bill. Not acceptable when the cost of the meal itself is 20 to 25% more than what you would pay at a comparable place on the Danforth. Yes I know this is Oakville and not the Danforth and this place is a bit above casual dining (overlooking that this place is cramped) I felt that with the pricing and the product this restaurant put out they take advantage of their customers, although they do it with a smile. Not returning.
A bit cramped. However, GREAT greek fare. Our favourite, despite having tried other greek restaurants on the Danforth & other parts of the GTA. We dine here 1-2x/month. Highly recommend it.
I guess if you own the Souvlaki Hut...Everything else is bad....Colossus is and I am sure will always be authentic Greek.... Always excellent....This is not fast food Greek food. The person below should be ashamed!
We live approximately 6 hours from Colossus. I stop and have a meal at the Colossus if I get the opportunity, everytime I am in town. Service is always great, very nice people. I have brought small and big party size here and the experience has always been very positive. We are bringing our whole family at this restaurant today (March 1) to try the whole leg of lamb roast. looking forward to it..
The service was top notch .Food excellent. The place was packed, the service was still first rate. I highly recommemd this place. Cool Martini bar next door. A great night out.
This is a fantastic restaurant! The service is outstanding, the owner Manny takes so much pride in his business, greeting you at the door, making sure you are nothing but happy throughout your dinner, the staff is superb, very fun and social, the food is very consistent and excellent. The ambience is so comfortable and wonderful, you can feel you are in greece at times. This is a terrific place, we are regulars and highly recommend it.
The food was fairly good, however we were treated with perhaps the worst service of our lives. I don't know what our servers problem was but she more or less just stopped by to take our order and then only made an appearance an hour later to see if we wanted dessert. We never were offered drink refills or asked how our food was and after getting the bill we waited 15 minutes just to have her process the credit card. This was my first time at this restaurant and even though my girlfriend and I love Greek food we will definitely not be going back!
Excellent food and service we sat right next to the window. It was our one year anniversary. It was very private. Loved everything!!!
I wanted to take my sister somewhere nice since she was leaving for university. She suggested this restaurant and I had never heard of it. We went and it was great. My pasta was so good and my sister loved her food too. The creme brulee was outstanding. Amazing experience . ill be back for sure
