Love, love, love the food and the ambiance. Have never been disappointed. My favorite lunch is the chicken salad.
My fiancé and I eat at the Kabuki only a few times a year. I'm not a big sushi fan nor is my fiancé, however we love the chicken terryaki and Kobe beef. The portions are big which is good as it isn't the cheapest place to eat. We look forward to our dinner when we do go.
I must say that it was some of the best food that I have ever eaten in my life... It was so good, and so was the service. But after my my fabulous dinner there, I was informed that I should be careful when paying with creadit cards, due to one of there wait staff. Just thought that all of us as customers should be aware of.
I try to visit the Kabuki House whenever I'm in North Bay for a visit. The very first time I visited, I talked to the owner, who is also the lovely Japanese man who works the teppanyaki table. We had a conversation about my year teaching english in Japan near Mount Fuji and how he's from the prefecture on the other side from where I was. Fact of the matter is: most Japanese restaurants are run by Koreans or Chinese and NOT Japanese chefs. To have a true Japanese chef in a restaurant in North Bay (of all places) is what makes the food here so authentic. Unless you've lived in Japan, you probably don't appreciate it (hence the poor review here and there for this restaurant). When you've had a steak in Japan and then come to this resturant and can say, "Wow, it tastes like a Japanese steak" and know what that entails, THAT is authentic cuisine!!! You can go to all-you-can-eat sushi places, but their california rolls (or any of their sushi, for that matter) will not melt in your mouth like the Kabuki House sushi/maki/sashimi does! It's absolutely divine! I will be the first to admit, their lunches are good, but it's dinner where the restaurant shines! Don't be afraid of the prices - the teppanyaki meals look pricey (and they ARE pricier), but if you're a person who appreciates great food for a bit more money, this is the place to go. By far, the best restaurant in North Bay!
I went out for dinner twice this week and I wish I had gone here for both meals. Kabuki House is absolutely delicious. We had the dynamite roll and calamari starter which were both fantastic. One of us had the Kabuki Special which is tempura, steak and chicken while the other had the chicken teriyaki. Both were delicious. This is definitely a hidden gem in North Bay and more people should give ethnic food a try at this excellent restaurant.
Best place in town by far. Fresh and authentic. Stands up to any Japanese place in Toronto. A must for lunch or dinner if you're in North Bay.
I love Kabuki and have been coming here for over a decade! Everything that I have tried has been delicious! I also really enjoy watching the chefs cook on the teppan table-that guy is always smiling! I am so happy they redecorated the place-I love the new atmosphere. The food keeps me coming back and it is a favorite place for me and my family to go to for special celebrations! You have to pay a bit more for quality and Kabuki always delivers the best meals in town! My favorites are the Japanese Spring Rolls, the Tuna Sashimi appetizer and the Bento Box. I also love the sushi dinner as well!
Wow I made a mistake coming here! I'll have to come again and again. Awesome food awesome service! For any special occasion you have to treat yourself here!
Took my girlfriend here for lunch and we were pleased, as usual. Service was great and the food came quickly, hot and was really good. Great place for lunch as you can drive there and back, order and eat, within an hour. Perfect. Will go back. I love the tempura and their salad.
An amazing place for vegetarians in North Bay! I know that entrees are pricier for meat eaters, but the Vegetarian Platter is huge, at a mere $19. Best yet, it is big enough to be shared between two people. The service is always amazing, as the Kabuki house employs a great staff.
Was way too overpriced for what you get..Need's renovation. I would recommend to save your money and go elsewhere. Was very unappetizing atmosphere and the food was like something you would get at a take out place in the city.
Far too expensive. They have a monopoly on the Japanese cuisine so they feel they can charge whatever they want. Be careful! the hot grill is right at hand level when you walk in. It's extremly easy to burn yourself. There is also no screen for hygenic purposes. The restaurant is extremly cramp and if you have little to say, you can easily be entertained by the conversations around you. Street parking only. Paid meters during Weekday and Saturday business hours.
We went there for new years eve, which was also our anniversary. No one told us it would be a la carte on the phone while making reservations but we stayed anyway. Ordered 2 meals, which included a soup, salad, tempura and 5 pieces of Sushi. It was 55$ each!!!! I eat all you can eat Sushi in Barrie for 11$!!!! I was still hungry when leaving! Absolutely insulted!!!!!!
Best Restaurant in North Bay by far....food is amazing...I finish every bite, everytime...I just can't stop eating it....Love to go with my girlfriends..food and staff is amazing....I go at least 2-3 times a month...more if I can... Supper is a bit pricey but worth every penny and lunch is quick and cheap...love this place...
Fantastic Restaurant...would go back again in a heartbeat, only thing that I would suggest is a little lower price...the sushi was quite expensive (dinner for 25$) but nonetheless it was wonderful. The cheesecake for dessert is a must try!!
The service was fantastic. I loved all the food I tried, between the assorted sushi and the bento there was alot to try. I don't understand why people are complaining over the prices, for the amount of food, the quality and the service the prices are more than reasonable. I will definitely be returning as soon as possible!
Delicious and Fresh! The best restaurant in North Bay! We go at least three times a month because the food is light, beautifully presented and delicious.
I love this place for lunch! The salad dressing is amazing. Kabuki House is fresh and inexpensive for the quality.
My absolute favourite restaurant in North Bay. Better Japenese than any found in Ottawa. Amazing food, wonderful attentive service in very busy restaurant. Relatively fast given how full it was. For quality of food, is fine price. If you want to go, best to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. PS the upstairs lounge is an interesting spot to dine as well.
I eat sushi all the time in Toronto and let me tell you it is 1/3 the price of this place and equally as good. I'm sorry I wont be returning to you establishment although the food is good I would rather eat out three times for the same price as eating out once in you place. And believe me the Kabuki House isn't charging more based on quality because in this case this is no issue I mean lets admit North Bay & Toronto aren’t famous for their scallops & Sushi grade fish. Although Toronto has more access to imported fresh fish then North Bay. You pay more at Kabuki House because there is no competition, witch is fine I would do the same but in the mean time I will indulge on twice the amount of sushi for the same price when in Toronto :)
