Venturing out on a Friday night date night with the wife seemed like a daunting task, being recently transplanted back to London after a 15 year absence. We decided on McGinness Landing, a staple in this city. Imagine our surprise to find it redone and much busier than anticipated. With no where to sit in the lounge we reluctantly allowed the hostess to escort us next door. Never having been to the Oar House before, it was as we expected, loud, busy and far out of our comfort zone. Having no tables left, we bellied up to the bar, with no expectations, only to find two very talented and accomadating bartenders! Andy, also the manager, and his sidekick, Lisa, kept us entertained and well "serviced" throughout our stay. She suggested we look at the menu and gave us some suggestions while we waited. When refills were required, she happily ventured next door to fetch my wife's brand of wine even though it was very busy. We were made to feel like one of the "gang." When our table came ready we were sorry to go, and to our surprise we were told the same menu was available as next door. Completely out of character, we decided to eat there. Not only were we treated to a free appetizer, we had a riot! Fearing that our experience was a fluke, we ventured back at the end of February on a Friday night, only this time we went straight to the Oarhouse. Imagine our delight to find the same bartenders, doing the same great job! Not only did Lisa remember us, she remembered our wine selection. Andy was as witty as ever and our stay just as enjoyable. In all we have been in four times, and even know some of the "regulars." We are happy to have come to know these great people and this hidden gem! If you're up for a great night of sports, service, and fun, we highly recommend it. Great job guys! Keep up the good work!
This place does what it should, simple fare, better if you order off the mcginnis menu from next door, but its a sports bar with tons of screens, multiple sports, and some of the best looking waitresses, who are also very friendly...as well. Wacky wed..are a special treat...as the waitresses have some real fun with it. Wing specials during the day, everyday, and sun, mon, and thurs nights.
Always a great time at the Oar House, especially the hot wings and peanuts. Even with the Leafs in the basement these days, it's a great place to watch them! The atmosphere is unmatched in west London.
Service was exceptional. Sometimes it is not as good at night. But the food was great and fast for a busy lunch. Will come again for sure.
The guys and I came in for a few drinks, we havn't been in for a while. We were not very impressed by the waitstaff, they were very unflattering. Overall we thought the beer and food tasted like it should, but the service was not.
This is the place to be in London for Sports... ...or if you want to meet men who like sports! The food was great, the service was great, blah, blah, but the bartender/manager Andy...wow! Definitely worth the drive to London. Seriously though, I was very impressed with the visit. Try it for yourself next hockey game.
This is the greatet sports bar! You don't have to be into sports to go here it is just an allaround good time. The bouncer & bartender are great guys. Wacky Wednesdays is the best night to go the waitress' dress up in customes and the beers cheap
Dont' go for the food - go for the fun. I'm not sure they've changed the deep fryer oil this year - the wings taste like fish. That aside, its a fun place to be - Really relaxed atmosphere. Just don't expect any more than standard pub food and cold beer.
Not much to say- but the place definately has the market cornersed on good times and a fun atmosphere... worth every minute.
