The business was recognized as the Platinum winner in the 2016 Kitchener Post Reader's Choice Awards for Best Photography Studio. Picture Yourself has been delivering customer service excellence to Waterloo Region for more than 30 years. Its primary markets are Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and surrounding areas. But the company also serves the Greater Toronto market as well.
Weddings are the backbone of its business. The studio has shot more than 1,000 weddings under Robert Dorey's ownership.
Other services offered include family portraits, business photos, commercial and event photography, sports teams, as well as pets, grads, maternity and modelling portraits. Passport photo services and custom framing are also available too.
Picture Yourself is open 5 days a week. The studio is centrally located on King St. in Kitchener, directly across from Grand River Hospital.Picture Yourself has been owned by photographer Robert Dorey since 1999.
During that time, the photography industry has undergone a sea of change as digital technology quickly pushed aside film cameras. Robert, a graduate of Sheridan College, embraced the technological changes and the studio continued to prosper in the new environment.
One real benefit to learning on film was that photographers were taught to shoot things right. There was no photoshop and consequently no margin for error. Robert still incorporates that same philosophy today as not everything can be digitally edited.
