Been here a few times and will return. Staff is amazing. Food is very good Mediterranean. Location and venue is nothing to brag about. Would recommend to anyone to try!
We presently had our company Christmas Party in December 2011 and it was fabulous!! The ambiance was warm and pleasant. The waitresses were polite and the service was good. I am looking forward to Valentine's dinner with my wife!
We just fell in love with this place. We live in the Mississauga area and good restaurants are hard to come by, especially in this area. Finally a place where we can really enjoy ourselves and have really outstanding quality in the cuisine. The Raging Olive is probably my new favorite restaurant. I only discovered it recently and since then I have visited it on a weekly basis. The food is simply outstanding. I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants around the city, and this one takes the cake. Their appetizers are wonderful, especially the hummus, calamari and even the soup. The mixed grills are simply mouth watering! They always serve you with a warm smile and the service is outstanding! Moreover, the value is one of the best in the city top notch, and I can't say enough about the food and service at this place.
We had a coupon from the entertainment book that said we could get 19 dollars off out meal. My husband got there pita steak and a salad and I got Pasta with chicken. The food was well not horrible but not good ether I can make better pasta in a bag. My pasta was very oily and my husbands steak was not seasoned. The portions were very small compared to what they were asking for it, Not a good bang for your buck at all! I was happy we were not spending full price for it. When it came time to check out they would not honour our coupon. They said the sandwiches were not included for this coupon. Even after we said we said we were never going to come back they still would not take 8 dollars off our bill. It was 7:00pm on a Monday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant. That is very sad. Hated this place!
We visited the Raging Olive on July 30th, 2011. We had a lovely experience. The food and portions are great. The food presentation and service was awesome! They were setting up for a big 30th Birthday party! There were four of us and we ordered a mix of appetizers, Tandoori Chicken Salad, Greek Chicken Salad and a Steak Pita Sandwich with a salad. The food is delicious (I think it is better than LaLuna and Montefort). The waitress went out of her way to slighly turn down the music for my son who has Autism and has a difficult time with sound and was very engaging with him. He loved his Greek Chicken Salad which he rated as a 10 and he is an expert on that! The restaurant is very clean and the washrooms are very well maintained (to me that is one sign of a very good restaurant - the cleanliness)! We complimented the owner who was very involved with his staff. Only one disappointment was the dessert Baklava - that is the only dessert on the menu and it was two small pieces and very dry! But really who needs dessert - don't let that deter you from experiencing this lovely restaurant. I will call Nelson who is the owner and tell him he should really enhance it by offering a bigger selection of desserts! Great food, large portions, clean restaurant - what else can you ask for! I'm very fussy and we loved it! I will definately return!!
From the tasty morsels of Kafta, the succulent Shawarma, the fresh salad with a delightful dressing or the exquisitely made, just-right Baklava, Raging Olive is a restaurant I would like to visit over and over again when I crave Mediterranean food. Well done, Nelson!
Ownership has changed recently but the food is still great. The menu has been updated which is nice but i stick with the tried and true (shawarma and falaffel). The new owner is also a very pleasant person to talk to and get to know. Much better then the vast majority of chain restaurants Burlington has to offer which at best are mediocre.
Have been going to this place since it was "Carmel's". My wife and I go there at least once every couple of weeks and order from there if we need to bring food to a potluck. The new owner has taken it from good to AMAZING! We generally have the maza for two and order: babganoush, taboule, hummous and the tomato salad. The onion sauce that comes on the side is so good, I could (and have) eaten it on it's own...lol Chicken schwarma is tender and flavourful and if you order it spicy - wow! - it COMES spicy! Also recommended is the Feta dip....super cheesy and delicious! Honestly, my favourite restaurant and the best food for the money....scratch that.....best food PERIOD in town.
Just happened to visit this new restaurant, had been there before but decided to give it a try again. Wow ! the place is great. Ordered the appetizer platter. Presentation was perfect, ordered the mixed grill and had the beer on tap. Loved the place. Prices reasonable for the portions and service is friendly. Great place for a family outing. Would surely go back again.
I visited Carmels in the past, but I believe it has changed owners in the last year as the food is FANTASTIC now!! The chicken shawarma is AMAZING and the home made Pita's soft, warm and delicious!! The portions are very generous. Several of us took home our leftovers. I have now introduced this restaurant to several friends and family members and we all agree is is one of our favourite restaurants in town. Service is great, the staff is friendly and the whole atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Lunch is the best deal in town! But dinner is reasonable and just as good!
Very quiet on a Sunday evening just the two of us so service was quick and attentive. Food was feshly prepared and lots of it... lots of feta on the Greek salad and the Fatoush was well done. The only weakness was the wine list... by the glass a terrible red... perhaps a long open bottle... didn't try the white from the same brand.
I've been there several times now, it's been good every time and I always leave stuffed. Make sure to get the meza platter as an appetizer for sharing. The rest of the menu is good as well.
We have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere there.
The food, as usual, was delicious. The freshly baked pita was fantastic, as was the bathenjane. Large, generous salad that would have been enough for two to share. Overall value for the dollar is very good. The waitress was helpful and very friendly. One thing kept me from enjoying my meal entirely. Most people are not aware that workers in all restaurants in Ontario must wear either a hat or hair net on their head while preparing or cooking food, AND gloves as they touch the food. Both chefs were not using either! Where are the health inspectors when you need them?
Owner and staff are very friendly and food comes very quick. I used to be a regular customer, but their standards have gone downhill. You go one time, and the baba ganoush is amazing, then the next time you go, it tastes absolutely unedible (bitter and sour). The same problem lies with portions. You go one time and get a good portion of hummus or baba ganoush, and then the next time, you get half that amount, so you order more to make up for it and get charged for the extra side order. They need to standardize portions and preperation methods so it's the same taste and size everytime. I've mentioned many times with waitresses, but it's never gotten better. We finally won't go back.
Visited Carmels in the past and was generally satisfied, and always order the mixed grill for takeout. On the last occasion we ordered the mixed grill for 2 and came home to find half-empty containers and portions barely comparable to the mixed grill for one. When we called to inquire, management was rude, did not address our questions and basically hung up on us. Will not be going back!
Doesn't look too appealing from the outside, but it's a nice, spacious, clean restaurant inside. Excellent food, so full of flavour. Entrees took a little longer than expected, but the server apologized, and made sure we were okay for drinks, and appetizers in the meantime. Bathrooms need a little work, but were maintained & clean. A nice place to go with a family, or to treat yourself to an affordable, yet scrumptious social dinner out.
This restaurant is a small yet comfortable place away from home. The atmosphere is quiet and the service was impeccable. It was truly an enjoyable experience.
There was only the owner there, cooking and serving the food. It took him at least 30 minutes to get us the appetizers. The portions were small and pricey. It was ok, but for $50. we could have eaten somewhere a bit better. Will not go back.
Since i was lat there, they have refinished the interior and given it a new brighter atmosphere. the restaurant seems more spacious and thankfully they haven't changed the food. The overall portions are still more than most can eat in one sitting and its still delicious. The clean dining area, spacious comfortable atmosphere and aromatic foods will keep me coming back for years to come.
