When the Vancouver Lookout opened back in 1977, it was one of the original star attractions in Vancouver’s downtown core. It was an exciting event when the city's tallest tower at the time was officially launched by American astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon.
In 2017, Vancouver Lookout celebrates four decades of offering residents and visitors a 360-degree vantage point from which to admire the city's stunning skyscrapers and the surrounding water and mountains views.
The observation deck is situated atop of one of Vancouver's most iconic heritage buildings, Harbour Centre Tower. The historic tower first opened in 1928 and was anchored by Spencer's department store, renowned for its upscale women’s clothing, perfume and jewellery. The retail space was later sold to Eaton’s in 1948.
