The newest venture to spring from the creative minds of AnnaLena co-owners, executive chef Mike Robbins and general manager Jeff Parr, is a refreshingly approachable coffee shop bakery in Kitsilano, where a laid-back vibe prevails.
Launched in early July 2018, Their There forgoes the overstuffed sofas in favour of a modern-minimalist style that puts the focus firmly on the sweet and savoury menu made in-house.
Like the comforting effects of homey baked goods and your morning cuppa, so too is the subtle inference behind the name. Mike reveals it derived partly from his father's words when he was growing up, as in "there, there" used in a soothing, calming tone. "Their" refers to their ownership and their version of a café/bakery.
"Their There, like AnnaLena, is different from anything in the city," says Mike. "From decor to style of service — it's very dressed down for a quality product — and we've become known for that."
