When you think of fairies, words like magical, ethereal, whimsical and fun often come to mind. They’re definitely not a creature one would associate with bleakness or boredom, but that’s where In the Company of Fairies had their start.
“I used to work in a bank and I quickly realized that was not what I needed to do in my heart,” says owner Bryony Lake. “I needed to follow my passion and my heart and I wasn’t sure what that was, but I felt drawn to performance.”
One day she fashioned a set of wings and then took those wings to where she was volunteering at the time. The positive effect was instantaneous, and Bryony knew that by transforming herself into a fairy, she had found her life’s calling. “I was following my heart and what felt right to me,” she says, “but also what people were interested in. That was the place of alchemy.”
