After several bad hair cuts and unpleasant experiences I knew it was time to get my hair done again, so this time I called Chop. The Owner recommended I see Jayson. I was a bit nervous when I arrived but Jayson made me feel at ease. He had many engaging stories and I found myself laughing at his jokes while he trimmed away. The end result? Life given back to my hair without any loss in length! Jayson is very good at what he does and my friends certainly noticed at dinner! Thanks, Jayson!
I found out about CHOP Salon through Island Daily Deals and couldnt have been happier. What a gem it is in the University Village, I had no idea it was there before. I hadnt had nails in a long time as I was excited to get a treat but after the awesome job the nail tech, Tara did, I still have them on 4 fills later.
She is super friendly, but most of all I appreciate her expertise and she knows what will work for me and what wont, and the result is always beautiful! Ive never had my nails lift or fall off, so job well done.

I have been going to Chop since they opened for all of their services, and I have always left happy. The staff are always open and inviting and very helpful with all of my needs, I have curly hair so my hair can be tough for some people to cut, But I've been to most of the stylists and they are all great with my sometimes unruly hair.
I get my nails and waxing done there as well, And I've never been displeased with the service I've gotten,
The Lady who does both services is professional and friendly and I've never had a single service from her that I didn't like.
Plus I love that shes always open to my wild and fun nail ideas.
All in all, I love that I can come here, and get my hair, nails and waxing done at once, and emerge a brand new woman.:)
I could hardly wait to write a reveiw for the wonderful service I recieved by the staff at Chop and when i got here to do so I was soo dismayed and dissapointed to see what some other person has written about the nail tech. :( wow she sounds like she is talking about a totally different girl from the one that looked after me .. and I do know there is only one girl there for nails.
you just can't please em all i suppose and thats okie.. for she sure did my nails great!! I will be uploading a pic to show mine as well . somtimes it takes a person a few times getting a service done to have the complete understanding of what a person likes or dislikes .
it has been my experience at other places I have gone to that it may take the hair dresser or nails tech or whoever a few times with me to find the perfect niche and to know exactly how I like things .. I go to Chop for the following reasons : close to my home, friendly neighborhood service, always available, reasonably priced ( face it we go to who ever is the most reasonable no matter what we are shopping for )! but luckily they are super talented as well !
please be like me and see for yourself I NEVER believe whiners I have to see for myself!!!!!!! some people just enjoy complaining it must make them feel important or powerful or somthing!!
So after 3 weeks of waiting for this appointment (I cancelled once due to work and she cancelled on me twice), I was very dissatisfied.
They are very choppy looking and i can see her file marks under the Gel. The smile lines are very high and look un natural. I can also see little air bubbles under them.
The lady that did them was very unprofessional as well, she swore a few times and yes I may be younger but I did not expect that at all.
I did like how I asked for Gel nails and they were actual Gel nails and not acrylic with Gel ontop.
I may have been her last appointment of the day, but i still should have received great service. I didnt even get the option of any nail art. I am going elsewhere tomorrow to get them removed andd will never go back!
I am one of those really girly girls so i go to the salon regularly and i must say this salon and beauty bar is one of the best places ive ever gone to. i have had my nails done their and my hair done their, and the service was great both times. the nails were beautiful and i couldn't stop looking at them. but the people i really have to give kudos to is the stylist i have had my hair done many times through a variety of hairstylist and i have never had the color turn out the way i wanted it to. the first time i booked my appointment with a girl with a really unusual name i forget it but she did a tremendous job on my hair. I am defiantly going back to get my hair done and my nails done.

I have had a full set of nails put on at this place and let me say that it was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a nail salon! It was right away a bad sign that she kept talking about how great she was and how she has the best skills. I did not see these skills. My nails were so thick that it was absurd, and not to mention embarrassing! This was not my first set of nails, I have had nails on and off for years and the application was very painful for some reason and she kept "nicking" my cuticles and making them bleed (and she acts like its no big deal that your bleeding alot and doesnt even apologize).
Due to the convenience of the location for me I did in fact go back for a fill and I was charged $60 for a FILL and the nails are just bad!! When I went to a different salon to have them removed as they could not do anything with them I felt terrible for the tech as she couldn’t even cut the nails off as they were too thick to fit into the cutter...she used 7 files to take those nails off!
Right now she is offering half price sets of nails; do not be fooled into this deal as it is not worth it because you will have to repay someone else to take them off and reapply a full set.
The owner lady is nice but is blind to the terrible work her nail tech is doing that is costing her clients (if you think she does good work it just shows how little experience you have in this field). Because of the bad nail service I was way too scared to ever have my hair done!
Overall Painful, sloppy, no attention to detail and no pretty finished product
As you can see in the picture they are way wider at the ends and slightly yellow! I wish I got a picture of the thickness as they were the worse nails ever!
