After hearing the inspirational story of a woman who used raw, natural juice as part of a treatment plan to beat cancer, Marnie Ashcroft became passionate about using food as medicine. “I started to think if someone like that could empower themselves to heal, imagine what it could do for kids or people dealing with nutrition deficiencies,” says Marnie. “So, that was my idea: We’re a wellness company, and we make fresh juice.”
Glow Juicery makes its juice fresh in-store without any processing. “Juices on shelves have been flash-heated to the point that most enzymes are destroyed, so they will have a shelf life of months,” says Marnie. Glow Juicery juice has a shelf life of only 72 hours. As a business model, that can be challenging, and Marnie received some sideways glances from her friends. “People thought we were nuts," she says. "We were told we were crazy and that it would never work. I disagreed.” And, it turned out her instincts were right. Marnie started out selling 60 juices a day, and now Glow Juicery sells between three and four hundred juices a day.
