Menzies Printers was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Art Menzies and their son Mal as a weekly newspaper and commercial printing plant in Sexsmith, Alberta. Prior to this, Art had been involved in weekly newspapers in Saskatchewan and as a freelance journalist in Western Canada for many years. In 1950, the family was joined by Ann Lozeron who married Mal and became actively engaged in the business. The business was relocated to the larger nearby centre of Grande Prairie, Alberta.Following the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Art Menzies in 1968, the firm expanded into stationery and furniture.
