While the eat-local, farm-to-table movement has reshaped Calgary's restaurant scene, Studio Intent owner Chantal Barchard has applied a buy-local spirit to her downtown women's fashion boutique. Barchard opened Studio Intent in 2011, stocking her shop with a carefully curated selection of local and Canadian apparel. “Buying Canadian-made is my greatest assurance that my clothing is made well and that I know how it was made,” says Chantal.
Studio Intent is housed in the lower level of the Alberta Block Building on Stephen Avenue Walk. The store's fashion wares are displayed according to colour. Today this rainbow of fashion spans purple gem-toned blouses and skirts through a luxurious assortment of red and maroon business dresses and blouses as well as a teal and blue selection of professional attire. The boutique also carries a small selection of jewellery and accessories. Items include kitschy Toodlebunny earrings and necklaces, dconstruct eco-friendly jewellery and colourful Erin Templeton leather pouches.
